Winter tyre fuel economy

Post by Charles » Mon Jan 18, 2016 9:11 pm

Since changing over to the winter set, my fuel economy has improved quite significantly.

My daily commute is 40 miles each way on the A34/M4 and I am now enjoying 28mpg on the Alpin PA4s compared to 25mpg on the PS3s. For reference, cruising speeds remain similar (where the weather permits)

Now I know that these figures come nowhere near D3 figures but I am mightily pleased with an improvement of 10% from the softer rubber and was wondering if any other sad geeks have been monitoring their fuel economy as closely during these colder months.

For research purposes, of course, perhaps you might like to share your experiences here :D

I would expect 20mpg around town too.
