Insurance for my Cars? x3

Post by samuk » Fri Jan 01, 2016 9:47 pm

Guys, have a few days till my renewal..

Currently all 3 cars are with Aplan. Quote is near the same what i paid last year (£80 odd more) - was hopin git would have been less this year..

Who else can i go to to get quotes.

As one of my cars is a Alpina, struggling with online companies providing a quote..as they dont recognize the alpina and the few that do, quote stupid prices!

Alan quoted me £600 for the alpina last year, adrian flux were close to £1000!

Choices are limited with the Alpina it seems?

Any thoughts

thanks

Have another go at Aplan as they are now BMWCC insurers.

A bit of the increase is the additional insurance premium tax!!

Aplan quoted me £1400 for 3 cars

£300 focus
£497 535
£600 Alpina

Cheapest i found is direct line £810 (but cant get alpina quote)!

£300 for the Focus
£510 for the 535

Only issue is i cant get prices for the alpina as no ones system reconises it! right pain..and if i go to another insurer they will mark it as 0 claims for the car...were as Aplan say they mirror my 10 years on the other car..

Aplan would want more for the alpina, as the price quoted was for all 3 cars.

thinking if i can find someone who will insure the alpina for £500 i will atleast save £100...

if not will just end up going with Aplan.

Also i found a insurance company, that will match the online price for direct line and take 10% off it... (used this once before)

Try LV they insure our Alpina. I don't always go just on price but how good they are with making a claim.
We had a claim this year and the process was excellent. No quibble, sorted quickly and could use Sytners for the work.

I use Admiral Multi car. Couldn't get a sensible quote from anybody else, but you will need to ring them as Alpina'a don't come up on their system.

Just under £1000 for B3S and Roadster S with a 5K limit, and an Infinti QX70 1 year old with business use, both me and my wife to drive (wifes diabetec), protected no claims, all parked on the road!

Now about £600 for 2 cars Alpina B6S Cab and new Citroen Racing DS3 Cabrio.

Worth the call.
Alpina B6S Convertible
BMW E46 M3 SMG Coupe - Track Car - Gone
TVR Chimaera 400 - Turbocharged - Gone
Porsche Cayenne GTS 4.8, Oops, the dark side has landed!
BMW E34 Racing Dynamics K38 - Gone
Alpina B3S Convertible - Gone due to B6S
BMW X5 4.6is - Gone
Alpina Roadster 3.4S - Gone
BMW E46 330d M Sport Touring - Gone
BMW M3 Evo E36 - Gone due to B3S
BMW 840 Ci Sport - Gone, but what a car
BMW M3 E30 - sadly departed

Too little time...Too many cars!

Admiral for me.

Without going into detail, I tried APlan but due to the individual I spoke with they were uncompetitive. (Though to be fair they did contact me after I alerted them to the issues experienced and they did try to rectify but I was happy/committed to the Admiral quote by then, perhaps next year.)

Combined cost of the D5 and a Honda CRV is less that £650.

Hi,
Have you tried us for insurance this year? Our schemes are constantly changing / evolving so just because we might have been un-competitive last year we might be able to help this year.
Regards,
Dan.

Admiral are cheap for a reason.
Took me 2 1/2 years fighting with them to get them to pay out when my old 328 saloon got struck by another driver.
They tried every trick in the book to avoid paying out.
Good luck anyone that tries to claim through them

My experience with Admiral is somewhat different - two claims in the last couple of years (including one caused by an uninsured driver) and the process has been trouble-free and quick.

My experience of claims with Admiral previously has also been very positive with excellent Customer Service.

I was left £700 out of pocket after claiming for a £2500 repair bill. £350 of my own excess which I was told originally by admiral would be refunded as it was a non fault claim and another £350 I had to pay to the motor insurance ombudsman for some reason that was never clearly explained to me.
Wouldn't touch them with a sh!tty stick but that's just my personal experience
