Car written Off!

Post by mac » Mon Jun 29, 2015 10:46 am

I unfortunately had a coming together with a van, so much so that the car has been written off, I decided I did not want the car repairing and reached an agreement with the insurance company.

Injuries......Pride and a severe burn on my arm were the steering wheel airbag inflated.

So after eight years of Alpina ownership I have decided to look at something different.....dare I say it......maybe even a Mercedes, but something that will come with three year warranty.

I will stay on here having an occasional read or to even add a post or two.

Many thanks to those who have commented, agreed or even disagreed on my thoughts, posts or otherwise over the last eight years or so.

Take care all.
Mac.

Glad to hear no injuries other than pride and the burn but saddened to read that the car is a total loss.

Merc's are good, their lifetime assistance program is worth its weight in gold and free providing you have your vehicle serviced at Merc dealerships. The downside I found with a Merc ownership, is actually dealing with the dealerships so much so that I even contacted my previous BMW dealer to see if they would service my E class. In the end I found a Merc dealer who's service wasnt too bad, twice the distance away than my nearest two but it was worth the extra distance for the lack of grief. I had the E class 9 years, longest i've ever owned a car and it took me two years of car searching and test driving before i got my Alpina.
Nothing to see here.... move along in an orderly fashion please!

So sorry to hear that very sad news Mac.

The important thing is that you are ok.

By the way. There is nothing wrong with a Merc. They are still German. Just that Alpina never managed to get there hands on them. I wonder what it would of been like if they did

Cheers for the comments guys!

I will end up paying for an error with an insurance hike no doubt. :(

First time I have been in a car when the air bags have inflated, front bags and side curtain bags.....frightened the life out of me!
Tell you what though within 30 to 40 seconds BMW were on the phone asking if I was ok!
Sat-Nav giving exact location on the screen for me to relay to services if needed.
Just a pity I found out how efficient the systems are.

Still, I live to breathe another day! 8)

Sorry to read of the demise, Mac, but pleased to hear you're well following the unfortunate event.

Trust you get a decent payout and find some new German metal to your liking.
