Facelift B3 Cabrio #244 ?

Post by SRM » Thu Dec 12, 2013 10:02 pm

Saw this B3 Cabrio advertised last week and just thought it had been modified with facelift bonnet , wings and lights but now I've seen a facelift 3Bs with the same number so can anyone else shed any light on this oddball?

Heres the for sale ad http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Alpina-B3 ... 4d15ce9a76

confirmation of sorts with the Alpina-Archive http://www.alpina-archive.com/?p=7704&n ... Cabrio-244

and the facelift B3s which got me thinking.. http://www.thealpinaregister.com/photo/b3/s/244/01

TIA chaps

They are two separate cars: as you say, it's possible the B3 3.3 has been modified, or maybe it was ordered after the facelift was announced & the original owner requested the facelift shell: it's a 2002 car & the facelift occurred around that time: the last few B3 3.3's were facelift, I believe.

It's also possible it's seen the other side of a hedge, & was fixed using facelift parts...

That's had the front end face lifted as the rear bumper and lights are pre face lift. Maybe they liked the look or maybe its hiding an accident.

My B3 no.265 has the same bumpers front and rear. It also has the same rear lights. It was registered Dec. 2002. So it may be a case of crossing over to 2003 spec as suggested by MarkWG.

That is strange, half a face lift, why would BMW do that?

I also would like to know the reason behind it.

shes had some action/story to tell is the most likely cause imo

The 3.3 coupes and cabs were all pre facelift.

There were about 2-3 B3s pre facelift cabs made, not sure on coupes

After further research No.265 does NOT have the facelift bumpers  I was under the assumption that it was for some reason. Sorry for any confusion caused.

Thanks for everyones informative posts, I'm inclined to agree with that the facelift front end has been fitted due to some sort of accident damage rather than a cosmetic upgrade by a previous owner.
