Alpina Insurance
insurance
Hi first post,
B10 3.3 2001 wanted a winter shed to look after my other cars and low and behold I bought an Alpina? so I tried to insure it and as everyone says just knowing what the car is , is the first hurdle!
After spending all afternoon on the phone I looked on here and gave "elephant" a call after getting the best quote of the day via the web.
initialy £454, then asked me about my other cars, reduced my T4 from £420 to £226, then my supra from £790 to £490 and this inturn as a multi car policy dropped the Alpina to £370??? Happy Days!
I live in shropshire and the Alpina has an lpg kit fitted so im very happy as I have just done a trip at a rapid pace and have done 48.6mpg if you compare the price of petrol "v" the lpg!

Welcome `emma`
Interesting collection you have there and good job with the insurance deal !
When I bought my B10 a multicar with Admiral was more expensive ... they loaded my other car to make the Alpina appear competitive. I ended up £350 better off keeping them separate elsewhere

Guys how do you go on with multi car policies when say all three currently are with different companies with different renewal dates, do you literally have to cancel all the insurances to restart them all with the multi-car or does the multi car kick in at expiry of the old (current) policies when that occurs. Do they use one lot of NCD for all three vehicles ?

When I bought my Alpina, Admiral quoted me for both cars but didn't take over the insurance on my 328i until it finished in the August. I only paid a proportion of the premium for the 328i to last me until the January, when I paid a premium for a full year on both cars.
My No Claims was the same for both (9yrs), although I'm not sure if that's the norm?

Very interesting, I'll look into this, the 'shared' NCD is obviously the killer deal, thanks for that.bmw virgin wrote:When I bought my Alpina, Admiral quoted me for both cars but didn't take over the insurance on my 328i until it finished in the August. Just got my renewal from admiral yesterday (1 car policy) and they`ve hiked it up to £660 , that`s £110 up on last years price!!
I went on confused and elephant (sister company of admiral) quoted me £394 for identical insurance ????? (fully comp 10yrs protected ncb, £650 excess)
Unfortunately working in the motor trade has its downsides to insuring cars, as they class you as a risk ??
I'm then hoping to lower this with a phone call and a multicar with the wife's astra which we've been quoted £171 to cover elsewhere

I don't own an Alpina but am looking for a D3. I rang my current insurers (Direct Line), to get a picture of how much I'd be looking at, they quoted £450 based on
Myself 47 and partner 52, both with no claims or points, 8 yrs NCD
Fully comp inc business use, legal cover and a host of other add ons and
12k mileage pa. Location Lancaster.
I thought this was ok until they said I'd have to fit a tracker. On-line comparison sites ranged from £750 to infinity

Guess who owns Tracker? DL are VERY naughty with this, but you may be lucky and buy a D3 with a unit already fitted so it's 'only' the yearly subscription you get caught forLondinium wrote:I thought this was ok until they said I'd have to fit a tracker.
