Mot!!

Post by mac » Fri Mar 09, 2012 3:11 pm

Well my car passed it's MOT earlier today and at a BARGAIN PRICE!!!

Bowker in Preston wanted a reasonable £35.00 but could not find a time to fit it in on a Saturday morning until after it was officially due.

Williams BMW in Liverpool wanted full price £54 odd but would match Bowker if I brought their letter along to show them confirming price they offered.

National Tyres in Liverpool (Vauxhall Road) have done it for£27.00
Bargain 8)

Now I have to find out how to reset the MOT reminder on the dash using the hidden menus via the i-drive.

Suggestions?

I have googled it but have a couple of different answers.

regards
Mac

I reset it myself on the MT after the Sytner forgot to do it. I think I followed roughly the same process you use for resetting the tyre pressure warning gauge. Something like this:

Get the service reminder up on the display, then press and hold the button on the end of the stalk in for 4-5 seconds. Then you should be able to change with the up and down control.

Cheapest MOT I found recently was KwikFit - £25 if you booked online with a promo code. I had 3 cars done in Jan at this price with no problem :-)
Retest (if you need it) is still foc within 14 days or whatever
but
you need to know your local Kwikfit is worth taking a car to - there is a lot of internet talk about them 'finding stuff' to work on .... they do not stock Alpina parts and I have never had a problem with my local branch - maybe because they know they will not be doing any work regardless of what they find but probably because they are just better than most.

Good place to check out current promo code/voucher offers is ;

 Yep, I've used Halfrauds for a couple of years in a row now for MOT, £27.50. Google 'cheap MOT'

Always make sure everything is ok so no problems as they have rather a large stock room next door (shop)

Hi seanb and others,
This did not work on mine!
Thank you for the suggestion though :-)

What did work was as follows:-
Bring the service information up via i-drive.
Select what is highlighted in orange.
Once on the next screen press and hold i-drive selector down until the date changes to red. To keep month the same just select it with i-drive controller, the red highlighted digits will move to year.
Change year and press i-drive to finish.

Thanks to those who replied, cheers guy's.

Mac.

Maybe he has to sit on the laptop, kinda like a booster seat to reach the controls to do the reset.......

Hi Vin,
I can only assume that this is for cars without i-drive!
