Cheers for that. 8) I hate dark colours and I'm not sure I could live with a grey interior - but I'm going to have to have a think about that. :) I dismissed asp's one in favour of a saloon with the correct spec, then wished I hadn't.

Biased but I like that!

I think I'd prefer that to the coal hole interior on mine, although the privacy glass, carbon black and shadowline look a bit too much for me.

I don't get how there are B3S's as a pre-facelift, and there are facelift B3's - did they offer them both at one point?

Sadly, I can think about it no more. I managed to damage the engine and gearbox on my wife's VXR8 today, so having that investigated and repaired has to be my first concern.

Playing at RAF Cottesmore - using the runway as a 1 mile drag strip.

Managed to grind reverse instead of selecting 5th, then when I tried again to find 5th, I found 3rd at 120 odd mph.

I managed to limp the car to the garage I use in Milton Keynes, and they stayed open to take the car from me, and let me have a loan car to get home.

The engine is running on 6 or 7 cylinders maximum, so could have bent a couple of valves. The gearbox will have to be stripped, inspected, and rebuilt or replaced.

A couple of silly errors by me, that could add up to be quite costly.

Bl00dy yankee gearbox. Still, such are the economies of scale of production that a brand new gearbox is only £2k, and (if needed) a new engine is about £5k, so I already know the upper limit of costs.

I know te origins......saw plenty in Oz when I was out there in the distant past. Quick, but a little agricultural

Hopefully, it's nowhere near those upper costs......

There aren't any pre-facelift B3S saloon or Tourings; the facelift for the coupe and convertible was 2 years later than them.

I have seen what appeared to be a 2002 facelift B3 3.3 convertible but it had been facelifted later in its life.

E46 Touring facelift was Sept 2001
That Touring is very keenly priced.
I don't imagine it will hang about for long

I have owned B3 3.3 touring no 107 for a couple of years, but have managed to get my paws on a B5 so it's going. I've stuck it on PH and MotorMutt with the usual hyperbole reserved for those who don't know much about Alpinas.

http://www.motormutt.com/private/608

it's a lovely car in cracking nick, I'd prefer it to go to an enthusiast and not to someone who'll change the alloys and fit neons, so I thought I'd stick it up here too. Any questions do drop me a line via here or one of the Ads.

cheers
dan
