D3 MT ride height

Post by D3orbust » Sat Jul 09, 2011 12:19 pm

Hi all

just washed the car and noticed that the rear of the car is sitting at different heights?

The rear driver side is sitting lower than the rear passenger side, by around 3/4 of an inch, I filled up the tank 1 day ago but this wouldn't affect it would it?

Checked the tyre pressure and both rears are at 38psi.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hello

I have the same issue from time to tme. Because it is intermittent and dependant upon where I park I see it as a none issue. I think perhaps in your case a full fuel load an maybe a slight camber conspire to give you an uneven ride height.
Check to see if the front wheel which is diagonally opposite the rear with the biggest drop isn't in a rut. With the weight on the front wheels it might be pulling the rear end up.

Hi

thanks for that, after re-measuring its out by around 1.5cm, checked the ride heights at the front and they're ok.

Its parked in the garage so its on a level surface, think it mught be my OCD kicking in.

But any other D3 Mt drivers could measure their ride heights it'd be great.

Thanks

Have you tried taking it out of gear and releasing the handbrake?

All the E46s I've ever looked at are lop-sided, but drive fine. Like the previous compact, the current B3 is lower on the driver's side than the passengers. If the fuel tank is to one side, then this will make a difference.
