E30 C2.7 Advice needed.

Post by E30RHINO » Tue May 24, 2011 9:27 pm

Hi chaps this my first post 1 of many i hope.
Anyway i am tempted by an e30 alpina 2.7 thats for sale at WLN Automotive.
Its royal blue/ tan leather and looks great from the pics.
I think its based on a normal 325SE spec and not a sport and she is also auto which suits me fine.
She been for sale for awhile now and is being sold on behalf of a chap form Ireland.
Its been covered in Bmwcar Jan 2008 issue and i have also found some pics of the car on this site but not much else.
She looks to be in great condition for an e30 which is good but i have been told she has had paint at some stage.
I am due to view this Friday but was just wondering about the price as she is up for sale at £6995 which is a lot of money for what she is.
As you can pick something very nice and fast for that sort of money i was just wondering what you guys in the know think.
Can anybody have more info has anybody on here been to see it.

First off - welcome! :D

That started off at around £9k last year. The Irish owner needs to sell. I know Andy Wilson (WLN) and he's a straight guy, and usually very honest about what he's selling. He'll only be on a £200 or-so commission on that car, so selling price won't be his issue - be prepared to haggle with the owner. I have to say, if I'd got the space and money to spend to finish tidying it, I'd have had it already as I think it's a lovely combo :D

I guess you know your E30's, and their usual weaknesses, but if any help needed, just shout - someone will be able to advise.

*edit* Just seen it's still on his website at £7950....it must be time to get rid if he's knocked another £1k off, now! Buyer's market atm...good luck!

Thanks for the thumbs up.
I want the car make no mistake but i also dont want to pay over the odds for her.
Would i be wasting my time at £5500 to £6000 .
She is hard to value i guess but i am buying purely on condition and colour combo oh and she is an Alpina :D
So yeah i am really keen but at the right price i guess.
Anybody know the car before she went to Ireland.

I bought my E30 325i Msport through Andy, and he helped me sell it....for a whole lot of cash to an Irish enthusiast  There have been a coupel of guys on here buying E30 Alpinas recently...hopefully they'll see your post and advise on expected value based on their recent purchases. Simon Allcorn (SPA69) on here is the register expert (and owner of one) on here. Drop him a pm.

Cheers,
I want the car but to settle on a price is going to decided the outcome for me.
You can pick up nice e34 M5s for that sort of money not that i would buy 1 but i am sure you get my drift 8) .
Just love the sleeper look that this 1 has, could be just a normal 325 if you did not know any better.
I dont know what needs to be to bring her up to scratch but she looks fine to me,is he wrong about the air con i cant be sure.
Also it has a bee sting on the rear window what that for.
If she does have air con i take it that there will be no sunroof.

It has a sunroof
It has aircon
The bee sting is an old analogue phone aerial

I can see all the above in the pix I can view.

Price-wise, it was too much at £9k. Now, I think it's nearer its value, but I don't know for sure. I sold my msport for that sort of money. This IS rarer, and does look tidy (mine was near mint). Best to find out what the other recent buyers reckon...search the recent posts and you'll find one buyer in the past 2-3 weeks.

BTW, this car was still in Ireland last I knew.....buyer pullout, maybe??

I think your idea of £5500-6000 is closer to the market value for the car, but if the seller has an unrealistic value in his head, you won't be driving home.

I was tempted by that one, though the interior colour put me off as I didn't think it complimented the exterior.

If it must be an E30, then this one also tempted me (and has also been for sale for ages) though it's the 2.5 rather than the 2.7, but is closer to the price I would expect to pay.

Interior pictures would be needed before I started to travel though.

The prices being asked are well into E46 B3 territory, and you should be able to get a very nice E36 B3 for less. Good luck with whatever you decide. :)

I'm not sure about that one as it doesn't appear to have a front end

It's been for sale seemingly forever....

If you've not received devastating news about the car from Simon  and you're still going, he used to live near the old TVR factory (about 2 mins walk IIRC) but I think he keeps the cars elsewhere now. I'm sure he'd collect you from the stationif you asked as he used to ferry the Irish boys back and forth to the airport.
