BMWCC Central Region Drive & Dine

Post by bern » Tue Jan 01, 2008 4:26 pm

I dont know about you - but i am missing weekend car events to go to over the Winter period ---

Arrangements have been finalised for the first new monthly weekend Drive and Dine in the Central Region, driving in the East Midlands countryside, for the third weekend in January -19th or 20th. (Can i call it a BEMER meeting ! Beyond East Midlands Everyday Roads !!)

I have not yet finalised on the Sat or Sun, as it will depend on interest . The Northampton district lakeside pub /resturant we will finish at will be quiter Sat but can accomodate us on Sun provide i advise numbers dining (to try to keep us sitting together)

Starting point will be the main car park at Gratham Water (not far from J16 on the A14) leaving at 1.30pm.

The drive will be approx 30 miles on B roads and country lanes for both "interesting" driving and leisure driving at your own pace.(some of the villages nearer Northampton will need care as possible single line traffic due to cars parking)
As the first theme could be "Nene to Nen" i will make two courses for the middle section to make the leisure drive more interesting.

It should be suitable for both single drivers, couples and families.

If enough interest this will become a monthly event, but using different start points/ routes.
The existing monthly pub meet on the second Monday at Stoke Bruene will continue

Please contact me if any interest to Alpina register members ?

Thanks

This should be better for me on Sunday(not the 1st one of the month) especially in the afternoon. The best should be the 3rd Sunday of the month as there is a meeting in Loughborough on every 1st Wednesday of the month already.

So does anybody interest? I may be able to come but I can't decide until Friday this week because of the work responsibility.

Thanks -- Look forward to seeing you there tommorrow.

The weather forecast says it will stay dry tommorrow and 13c.

Couldnt wait for Sunday so i test drove the route yesterday afternoon. Even with school and business road users, i had fun; so hoping that everyone enjoys it on Sunday, ending up with a good meal.

Sorry to hear that we missed you -- i listed the postcode from the website - will check it out with them if i use that as i starting point again.

We also had car trouble just before hand - the B10 Alpina hasnt been used for a month and had flat battery. wouldnt start from power pack or leads fom my other car; so wife didnt go. Dont know how old the BMW battery fitted is so most probably get a new one this weekend just in case.

Ended up with 3 cars on the drive to the resturant and my wife joined us there later. The rain held off and we had a dry enjoyable drive through 33 miles of country roads.
Time went quick talking and it was nearly 6pm before we left

In view of the potentially bad weather we may experience in Feb, i most probably will delay the next one untill March -- UNLESS - there is enough interest for a Feb run ???

Thanks for your interest

Regards

Bernie
