I called Sytner last week to enquire about the car, the sales guy I spoke to said they had "very strong" interest in it, and that someone in Wales (think he may have said Cardiff) was probably about to put down a deposit. That may have been their attempt at generating a feeling of urgency in me but it had the opposite effect, we are are a long way away from Sheffield and I was not about to act impulsively so told him not to worry then and hung up.
I would like a touring car, either a 3 or a 5, and although my mileage is not that high I am not adverse to the fuel saving of a diesel, plus we live in the countryside without any smog to worry about - I have the B5 for when I want to go really fast so the slightly less performing "black stuff" does not put me off, especially if it means the car comes cheaper in the first place.
I have been following "Dans" B5 Touring - the auction price seems to be coming in way below the spend on the car so presume the reserve is not currently in danger - guess there is hope for a late surge of interest at the end...

I think it's fair to say D5's aren't selling.df
Agreed, but at the same time the public are influenced by the media (ie anti diesel at the moment); yet trends change and (hopefully) people will re-evaluate the benefits of diesel, especially with such a good engine as in the D3/D5. Agreed as well, this May not happen overnight!

The nearly new diesel market is getting a bit crowded currently too.

G30 D5 S:
Bramleys have just dropped #049 £4.5k to £46.9k and Sytners have just advertised another 3 nearly new 2019 D5 S' this morning, so that takes it to 9 for sale I think.

G01 XD3:
There are 7 for sale by my count.

Media and legislation change for “older diesels”. ULEZ penalties, even parking these cars is subject to additional charges to essentially prevent them being used in London. This threatens to spread to other cities. This is impossible to ignore if you’re about to spend 25/30k on a used car, and that’s almost certainly why these lovely cars are not shifting. I’ve no doubt that the fear of this extends to newer diesels too, and couple that with the budget being circa 50k, few are happy to take the chance.

My own D5 hit 110k miles yesterday. I drove up to Wakefield and back from Berkshire and used a smidge over half a tank to cover 400 odd miles. In this situation nothing can come close to the breadth of what this car offers, at this price point. Quiet, refined, comfortable, huge pace in a blink and an interior ambience in this particular example that is essentially unrepeatable (for me). Our motorways are being converting to smart versions so you can forget doing any speeds now too, instead I’m happy to sit back and enjoy a really special car producing very little CO2, and avoid the cities :)

Very well put! I agree.
I’m yet to experience a long journey in mine, but that mpg sounds impressive (late 40s?). I know an M5 is a different vehicle, but 200 miles was quoted as the tank range for one of these, hence the diesel advantage , with torque, is great

Yes, around 47mpg

If you love your car now, you will love it even more over a long run, especially in a Tourer. I took mine to Norway over the summer - 3.5k miles in 2.5 weeks. The car was made for these journeys :)

When the D5 F10 was launched, it was compared with the M5. In reality they are very different cars, but as a one car package that’s used everyday the D5 takes some beating. It may not be a petrol V8, or have as sharp responses, but that effortless torque makes it a very useable quick car for the road that also gives some serious miles per tank.

I think this May have sold, can’t see it on Sytner’s website. Perhaps the interest they spoke about materialised

Yes sold, went in to confirm spec on my fathers M2 Comp at the weekend and no longer there.

Was not a fan of it with the spoiler IMO.

No worries, looking at this one that is going through BCA. Didn't even realise it is one of our sites that took it in as a PX where i work. Getting some details on it before i commit.

The mileage is a bit suspect. MOT from 2018 says 83,122 and current mileage a year later is 83,125??? Condition looks ok(ish). Will see!

Yes M2 Comp will be an absolute beast, DCT, carbon exterior/interior bits and in M2 comp only colour hockenheim silver with some nice options. Will be going for full detail and PPF also! Excited to see it!

Looks like this is unexpectedly back up for sale, no new images, just the Sytner ones from last year

Yes, I noticed that too, I think there’s a new addition (child, not car), on the way. Hope he gets a swift sale. The other (ex BCA) F11 is still up, but has far more miles on it

Looks like this one has gone back to Sytner. Listed as a D3 but as 2013, that's unlikely. Colour & mileage stacks up.
