Just curious really , does anyone ever have. Some dirt on their tail pipes ? I don’t mean filthy like an old diesel but some soot? Just wondering if it’s normal or I have maybe some regeneration happening....

That’s good to know it’s not only my car so. I asked Bmw but they said we’re not sure as the it’s a rare car. It’s dirtier than my f30 330d was . Those exhaust pipes would stay spotless.

What colour is your car? Mine is white and I drove an 8 hour trip last weeekend. And the car was clean leaving and had some dirt on the tips and bumper . I heard it do an exhaust regeneration too . So that might have caused some of it ...

Soot on the bumper doesn’t sound right, it might be worth having it checked over to be sure as you may have a fault with the DPF.

You think the Dpf could be cracked ? I have seen many dpf,s off cars and some that were blocked and some that were cracked ! I just kind of thought that with these cars and the lack of mufflers or back box it allows a little more fumes to Escape hence the tips being dirty ...

Maybe upload some images of the rear with the issue shown. Mine has nearly 60K on it and looks okay the pipe insides are clean as a general statement and the Akrapovic chrome does not get soot on it.

Mine are usually clean. The inside of the pipes has a baked on layer on it, but that can be scraped off. The edges of the pipes are always spotless. the car has done 74k. My old 335d (with DPF) would smoke occasionally, but that was never a problem and it never had a DPF issue.

Sent the car in for my annual oil change , they did some tests on the dpf and all is ok. But the pressure sensor they said was behaving oddly changing pressures and readings etc so they have ordered a new one . Hopefully it’s all ok after 😊
