This one? Was offered at BCA Enfield at the end of May-19, then next appeared at this dealer. Not spotted it previously so no other info I'm afraid.

I think I saved a copy of the auction appraisal, will check when I get back to my pc.

Otherwise, there are quite a few F10 D5’s about currently: what’s your budget/wish list?

His budget is £25k. He’d like the best spec available, with reasonable mileage, good service history. He’d like a dark grey or black one. He’s looked at a couple D3’s - 3.0 engine, but likes the look of the D5 BT. We’ve had a look at #049 and it looks from the pic’s on Autotrader that it’s had the dents / scratches sorted. The thing I’d like to see is the service / repair history and invoices. And to hear why it was in that state ?

I'd say at that budget you are at the lower end of the asking price range, but that being said, #109 recently sold at 77k, for some where close to £18k I believe, so may be a deal out there.

Below are all the D5's I've seen for sale currently:
D5 BITURBO [F10] #038 Imperial Blue/Oyster Dakota w Black Leather; 2012_62; £28.0k; 48k; Trade
D5 BITURBO [F10] #049 Dark Graphite II/Oyster Dakota w Black Leather; 2012_12; £23.4k; 73k; Trade
D5 BITURBO [F10] #090 Black Sapphire/Oyster Dakota w Black Leather; 2012_62; £26.0k; 67k; Trade
D5 BITURBO [F10] #092 Dark Graphite II/Oyster Dakota w Black Leather; 2013_62; £24.0k; 89k; Trade
D5 BITURBO [F10] #237 Mineral White/Black Nappa Leather; 2015_15; £38.0k; 32k; Trade

#090 was with another dealer previously and dropped as low as £21k, before being picked up by the current dealer who pushed it back to £27k before dropping to current £26k.
#092 has been with the same dealer since at least Aug-18 with little movement in asking price.
Spec-wise, they are all pretty similar, the main difference seems to be #049 & #092 have sunroof's too.

Your other option is Asim's (Metrics) D5 #013 which whilst higher on mileage (100k-ish), has a meticulous owner and has what is probably a unique spec for the UK: full Lavalina and most options I believe. Not definitely for sale, but he has mentioned that it's a possibility.

Afraid not, it had never been spotted in the wild before last month when it appeared with this dealer

Caesar, do you think it’ll hang around at that price ? Is it valued over / under ...looking to see if there’s a little give in the price before making contact - by that I mean my son calling and travelling 220 miles if it’s going to be a wasted journey :-?

It's a tricky one, but from what I've seen it is a buyers market for D5's currently. As I said above, the only one that I know definitively has been bought recently was #109 which was last advertised at £18k on 77k miles and was advertised from Nov-18 to Jun-19.

I first spotted #038 on the 25 Jun with no specific price, and as of the 7 Jul it was up at £28k. I would be surprised if the seller will be motivated to do much of a deal yet and given the asking price of the competition that only supports their position.

#090 probably presents the best option for negotiation as that has been up continuously with the same dealer for over 12mths.

Active cruise is a great feature. I thought I would only use it on Motorways, but it's even better on A-roads and traffic jams and takes so much stress out of any drive.

The problem is finding Alpinas with good options. I only buy used cars with mega options (my 640d Gran Coupe has active cruise, heads-up, 360 vision, side-cameras, night vision, full Merino etc etc for a total of £23k of options on what is a well-specced base car), my previous daily driver was a full 'VIP spec' Individual 750i.

Both my previous Alpinas (B10 Touring and B5) both had hardly any options and it seem that most UK Alpinas are low on options. The problem is that unlike BMW who have lots of dealers creating very high-spec demo cars, there are very few demo Alpinas and even they are often not that well specced with options.
