Breaking B3S

Post by Dans » Tue Feb 12, 2019 11:19 am

I'm breaking a B3S saloon.... (I know, but there's a why) I'm only selling it whole as I don't have space or skills to part it out. It's complete apart from a few crucial bits; the engine and all ancillaries, ECU, Exhaust, instrument cluster are missing, but the alloys, tyres inclucing a spare one, interior (the leather needs some love as it's been badly refurbished at some point), gearbox and T/C, Front spoiler (with a small corner chip) are good. The body is straight, with no signs of accident damage and only a little rust bubbling through on the front O/S wheel arch where they all go.

It's number 038 which isn't on here, but is on the archive https://www.alpina-archive.com/?p=7565&nmt=B3-S-038.

I'm open to offers for the whole thing, it should be ready to move in the next couple of weeks, obviously on a trailer it's located in Iver just outside London.

To answer the whys, I need an Alpina engine for a project, the engine is getting a rebuild for that project anyway, so the fact that this engine is a bit shagged didn't matter to me. Rebuilding it is going to be expensive and simply not worth doing for a saloon, so I'm scavenging the parts I want and getting rid of the rest.

Dans - A sad end to a Alpina - but totally understood as to why this is the case.

How much are you asking for the complete car (minus parts missing)? I need some spares for mine, but not the whole car, so i would have to trade off breaking the car myself.

Feel free to PM if needed.

Not sure I'd agree with that, but I can partially see your reasoning.

Do you have any photographs of the car as it stands now?

I've got some I took yesterday on a phone, I'll dig them out later, in the meantime the PH ad is still up:

In the end I needed to keep this for longer than planned in case I needed more parts. The remains of the car now need to go. So free to a good home if you can collect from Iver in Buckinghamshire in the next week. After that I'm going to scrap it. The car is E46 B3S saloon no 038. It has no engine, ancillaries, gearbox, exhaust, instruments, steering wheel, ECUs or aircon system. everything else is there including the interior, wheels, brakes and suspension, bumpers and bootlid and the BMW bits. Only the whole car though, I can't break it sadly.

Just to conclude the story - for those who are interested - #038 will not be scrapped but will, instead, receive a new lease of life.

I will be taking the various remaining ALPINA bits for my own use and the bodyshell will receive the mechanicals from a rusting 325i to form a new loan car at CPC.

Technically it will still be an ALPINA as that is how it is registered and that's what the VIN number says, but the replacement engine details will be logged. As Phil said this morning, it will still be significantly more of an ALPINA than the vast majority of fakes out there!!!
