What is the correct oil filter for a B3 3.3?

I get trade at BMW so always go there for oem parts

Hi guys,

Just to double check.

I've had my car since Oct 2013, and have done many oil services, intermediate oil changes, an Inspection 1 and an Inspection 2 in that time.

I've always used an oil filter from an E36 325i (M50 engine), and not one from an E46 328i/330i (M52/M54 engine).

The measurements for the M50 oil filter are:-
Diameter: 81mm, Height: 108mm

The measurements for the M52/M54 oil filter are:-
Diameter: 83, Height: 106mm

I've never had an issue with the using the M50 oil filter. No leaks, fits properly into the metal container etc...

Have I been using the wrong one all this time or is it fine?
