Side skirt removal and replacement

Post by rc944 » Sat Jul 07, 2018 2:39 pm

I finally got around to replacing the 2 bits of external flap trim that are forward of the rear wheels.

Easy job and also good to get the build up of muck away from where the sill meets the front arch liner

- jack up car
- remove plastic rivets with plastic trim tool
- remove flap trim
- prise away skirt from body (pull directly towards you)
- remove gunk from where front arch liner meets sill
- wash down sills and retaining clips with apc
- fix new trim flaps

once off the car, the skirts were washed with apc, tardis and wd40 (its a better tar remover than tardis)

installation reverse of the above

Nice DIY job to do
I have the same jack
Great for getting under low cars but why do you have it sat on blocks of wood? Is it to prevent damage to the driveway ?

I need to do this too; most of one of my trims is missing. Do you have the part numbers please?

I actually think the jack is crap as its not low profile enough and my driveway slopes

the tarmac can get soft so its to prevent gauging
