Ace Cafe London Alpina meet - June 23, 2018
ACE Cafe
In response to Simons post about the raffle. I was unsure if the organiser Yatin had arranged the meet as a commercial venture or an enthusiast with a commercial eye. I was in the process of explaining to him that previous events any funds had been reinvested in equipment, this conversation was cut short by the intervention of someone else to chat, as is often the way.
I agree we normally always draw the raffle earlier in the day before people depart.
Indeed I was never even offered a raffle ticket, I dont think I would have bought one as perhaps arrogantly I have all the prizes in my possession save for the use of the car. My calendar is pretty full and I could not justify taking it to a show or leaving it somewhere I would not my own car.
It will be interesting to know where these funds went.

Great to hear that you all had a great day!
P.s.....change is good
Hope this clears up any grey areas....[/b]We’re there other raffle prizes ? There was only 1 winner who would receive the weekend drive and the ALPINA merchandise which was paid for by myself....
I was surprised the raffle wasn’t drawn on the day..! There were several people who had bought tickets but couldnt make the meet so the draw was done a couple of days later to allow them time to make payment for their tickets.
Also I was wondering where the proceeds of the raffle go.
Whenever a raffle has been held in the past funds have been spent on flags and banners etc and what’s left go to a charity.
Absolutely agree! This was a passion project and whatever the event cost me was deducted from the raffle. The remainder will be put toward next years event in making it even better. In no way am i looking to make any profit from this!!

Change is always necessary....its part of life.
Otherwise we would all still be rolling around in one of these...
I understand that the majority of ALPINA owners are of a certain age bracket group/calibar and have done things a certain way. But what about the younger owners who want to continue the legacy of the brand in their own way?[/img]

I don't agree that change is always necessary but when it is, the key to successful implementation of change is to engage and include all the people involved in a way that they feel comfortable with it.Y4TND wrote:Change is always necessary....its part of life.

In the case of ALPINA owners, don't forget that there are only a few of us in the first place - some might say a niche market - so it is very easy to upset a large number of them very quickly. Once this is the case, then word spreads and members are reluctant to engage with something in the future.
From experience - and I've been involved in this group since 2003 - change has happened but it is best achieved gently, carefully and at a pace that suits the people being asked to change. And before you ask, I spent 20 years delivering successful change programmes that focused on the people in organisations, so I have a little bit of experience of that too

I would just like to say thanks again to Yatin for organising the meet in the first place. Many of us enjoy going to meets but there aren’t many which are Alpina specific so well done to Yatin (and Charles for the previous CPC meet). These things have to have someone get off their arse and put things in motion, how and what social media platform is used to get to the end goal makes no difference to me personally as long as there is a good natured well attended meet to attend.
Obviously there are differing views with all thing Alpina (roundels etc..) but we all have an appreciation of the marque so the way people celebrate it should be allowed to be personal to them in my opinion.
I am sure Yatin only has the best intentions when organising the last meet and hope for bigger and better version next year👍🏻

I enjoyed the meet and would embrace more ALPINA only events. I have to confess slightly disappointed at the low response to the ALPINA attendance at Silverstone Classic 2018. If one can make all three days its a chance to display a car infield and works out at around 17 pounds per day per person based on the early bird ticket in conjunction with a car club discount code.
We got BMW to allow non club members to use to the code, so not sure as to small take up?
Never mind if you have not booked it maybe too late now but check Silverstone web site.
The ACE was good, however not too keen on the poor security and bikes weaving in and out of cars, that could have been better. For me it started too late in the day, if you are coming from some distance, like me or even those from Birmingham area or Leicester, to crawl from the M25 is no fun.
I would encourage all parties to speak openly to each other, there is not an ALPINA Club GB, perhaps it is not warranted? What do Sytner want if anything and what does ALPINA Germany want if anything?

Well done Yatin, Charles, Simon and anyone who puts these events together. The right spirit should be to see things only positively - anything other than that should be raised with the individually personally and not on a public forum - it doesn't reflect well on a group of people who in my experience are only thoroughly decent.
