World Record Attempt at Brands Hatch

Post by Aggie » Tue Jun 05, 2018 1:56 pm

Hi All

Is anyone planning to attend Brands Hatch on the 23rd June to assist in breaking the world record for the largest parade of BMW's? I've got my ticket, £8. There's more information in this months 'Straight Six'. Hope to see some fellow Alpina owners out on the track. :D :D :D

Same date as the Alpina Ace Cafe meeting which is a shame. That’s 50 Alpinas out the running for the Brands Hatch event.

world record attempt

As the previous poster says 50 ALPINA cars will be at the ACE cafe that day, including me.

There is no current record for BMW except one for I think 178 Isetta. I looked into this attempt situation years ago for the BMWCCGB, if Guinness attend and verify it the cost was then 5K, plus expenses for the staff and hotels and travel.

The Club decided then it was not spending the money and I understand same decision this time.

The other way is that the people wanting the attempt verified have to supply a host of information and independent attestations, video and photograph proof, and so on and so forth. Previous attempts have failed the test.

I think that it failed because details if each and every car participating were not recorded and some cars had badges or insignia which were not genuine, ie M power badges, ALPINA roundels and so on and so forth.

Therefore, I hope the organiser has got it all sorted and gets the result.

NBot going to Silverstone, not my thing. I prefer the small local meets although Brands is not that local. It seems to be the closest event to where i live.

On the basis there is no major ALPINA meet (normally Nottingham) this year, only the Silverstone Classic (for which you are too late now anyway to display) and the ACE meet there will be any significance presence.

Your options and the numbers of people with ALPINA will be limited.
