Cylinder no 1 - part 4 (frustration)

Post by MichaelC » Wed Apr 04, 2018 11:02 pm

Well, everything was set for the engine to have been rebuilt only for Andy to find the pistons which had been delivered were the wrong pistons. Two weeks plus later still waiting for the correct pistons to be delivered by Alpina. Who cocked up? Was it a BMW main dealer acting as intermediary in ordering the incorrect pistons or was it Alpina simply sending the wrong pistons?

Not happy.

Sometimes stuff like this just happens.
Alpinas being what they are usually throws up the odd wrong part here and there
Frustrating perhaps but not overly surprising.
Hope the right ones appear soon

When mine was in for a few months at Sytners a lot of the wait was for a vent pipe that Alpina couldn’t find a part number for! I think they made one up in the end. I got the the pipe in the end but took ages.
One of the quirks of Alpina ownership I guess...

I'd blame the bmw dealer, its normally their fault!

And we have pistons.

The rebuild is already underway...

It's a shame I can't post up the picture I was sent yesterday (embedded in an email) which shows various bits n pieces and the bottom end of the engine sitting on a jig.
