Very rare sighting and occasion

Post by Charles » Sat Feb 10, 2018 3:23 pm

Yesterday morning I was hurtling down the M40 just past Stokenchurch (J5) when I came upon an E46 touring in the middle lane. My screen was filthy and didn't think too much of it until I cleaned it and spotted the B3S badge :D

Pulled into the inside lane to allow him to catch up and enjoyed some enthusiastic waving from the older bearded gentleman driver and his wife.

Unless this was the "unicorn" eighth car in the UK, then I assume it must have been this one, owned by Tim (who I don't believe is registered here).

To have 25% of the UK B3S Tourings on the same stretch of motorway was a rare and most pleasing experience :D

The UK cars are as follows:

#29 Steel Grey
#30 Alpina Blue
#31 Black
#49 Oxford Green
#71 Estoril Blue
#87 Silver
#104 Alpina Blue

... and the unicorn!

The one I saw was blue but didn't look like Alpina Blue and it didn't have rear window tint- so perhaps it was the unicorn after all?

#087 was a Sytner GB car (registered in 02/04) but there is very little else known about it

That's the point Simon - no-one has seen or heard of it ... until, perhaps, now.

The one I saw was a dark blue (not Alpina Blue) with clear rear windows and (possibly) black leather seats - which does not match any of the details we have for the other seven.

#38 according to the Alpina Archive - so that must be it.

It was on an 03 plate which would confirm that build number too.

So there we have it - 8 cars :D
