B10 v8 brakes
Front brakes on my B10 are shot (again). They didn't last long after I replaced them until they got a judder (not suspension arms, every last suspension part has been changed... ), but they're now looking decidedly cruddy with rust spotting, pad marks and rust creeping in from the edges...
Not impressed - paid over £300 for these including pads from BMW and they've only really lasted about 25k miles. I do around 20k miles per year, so it's not like the car sits outside gathering rust. BMW aren't interested in a warranty claim (I fitted them myself) and I don't really fancy spending the same again for another set of discs that simply don't last.
I've had 7 e39's of various flavours, and they've all had brake disc probelms, so just wondering if anyone has tried alternative makes? EBC do discs and pads for just over £200...
Cheers

Thanks gents.
Fully aware of the sticky caliper issues (like I say, I've had 7 e39's) and the issue I have is not wear and tear on the brakes its degradation of the discs over 15 months and 25k miles. Don't use wheel cleaners and don't take the car to car washes - always washed by hand and on the road virtually every day.
Anyway - just looking for possible alternatives to BMW, but judging by the lack of responses most people are happy with the BMW parts? Might try some EBCs if only to report back to the forum.

Have you looked at coated brake discs for rust protection? I haven't any experience of them but all the big manufacturers seem to sell them. For example;

In my experience I'd avoid EBC stuff. It's great for the saxo modding council chav brigade but the pads create lots of dirt and squeal like buggery.
Personally I prefer Brembo discs and pads as they are of decent quality.
I never buy through 3rd parties like eBay or ECP as lots of fakes have been sold that way. I usually get them from a reputable motor factor .
Unsure if they are available from Brembo in B10 sizes as my V8 just had discs all round before I got it
