Most amusing call this morning from the garage who told me in no uncertain terms that the car "had no brakes"

When I had established that they had started it from cold and put it straight into drive, I told them that it takes about 30 seconds to prime the brake servo system as the secondary vacuum pump was u/s.

They went out again, tried it and reported back that they had "found the brakes".

Oh the idiosyncracies of my old girl Very Happy

My 35 year old E24 has a very similar quirk; that's why Mrs E24man never drives it.

Well, this week has proved to be most frustrating.

The accident managament firm made contact to say that their engineer was unable to verify the value of the car so, rather than speaking to my insurer who has an agreed value on the policy or me, they have cancelled the repairs with their chosen garage.

A quick visit to the garage in question then reveals that they don't have the right geometry checking set up for the car (don't ask!) so they have said it needs specialist input.

On the surface a problem, but it has allowed me to nominate the only specialist I know that I would trust with my car - one Phil Crouch at CPC - to do the mechanical work and his trusted body shop to look after the metal and paint bits on the outside.

When the insurers stated that neither were on their books, I suggested the only other option was to use ALPINA GB at more than twice the labour rate and half the knowledge! This made them think a little harder ...

So as of last night, the car is now at CPC and in the hands of people I know and trust Very Happy
