But the cars might - although there may not be such a thing as petrol or diesel at that point!

2018

Apologies, yes, next year 2018. I was surprised that the BMWCCGB and the Chairman and former M register man, Richard Baxter even gave ALPINA a mention in the same breath.

Perhaps it is a co-incidence that a fair number of people from the south and in particular Hampshire own ALPINA cars. Anyway, no matter look forward to seeing what they suggest and attending a meeting in which turning up is my only contribution.

Event Thruxton May 2108

Post by Norrie » Sat Oct 28, 2017 11:34 pm

Its pretty certain that this event will not take place at Thruxton. The reason for this is that the BMWCCGB wish to get support from BMW UK Limited, both financial and practical. Thuxton is an Audi approved location.

The suggestion which is still under discussion and in the embryonic stage is for it to be at Bedford.

From an Alpina prospective I did email Sytner Nottingham about the original event location but apart from out of office got no response whatsoever, which is somewhat disappointing.

In particular as Schnitzer via Rossiters said they would support such and event and bring cars from Germany.

I hope it will not be at Bedford the circuits are Mickey Mouse.
Brands would be a much better venue, as BMW have quite a presence at the circuit, plus it's only 15 miles from me :D

proposed Thruxton meet 2018 M & Alpina theme

Post by Norrie » Tue Oct 31, 2017 1:09 am

Brian, without breaking any confidences but the costs for Thruxton were massive and I suspect Brands may also prove to be so. Therefore, if BMW UK are prepared to make a contribution of a significant amount I guess they can suggest where suits them best?

I have no experience of Bedford, so cannot comment on the Disney association.

The latest I have been told is that BMW UK cannot accommodate this event in their calendar therefore it has been scrapped.

It is amazing that they have any brand loyalty, mind you come the much awaited Brexit you won't be able to buy a new BMW
