Not surprising given the 234k miles. Bit over priced imo.

B11 e32 3.5

Post by mothertongue » Sun Oct 15, 2017 8:20 pm

Hi guys,

I went along last week to take a look at the fore mentioned B11. I have images which I will post later. The car is indeed very tired. Needs almost everything done. Suspension, brakes (disks, pads and probably calipers), interior is beyond repair and needs replacing, there's no major rot but it really does need tlc paintwork wise having had poor bodge job fixes in the past. Somebody in the past thought it was a good idea to put a lpg conversion on it. There were no visible Alpina enhancements to the engine which surprised me but not having seen one before I bow to more experienced members. The wheels and tyres need refurb and replacement respectively. The owner has several Alpinas but for some reason wants to sit on them until they go up in value rather than see them used. He stores them outside in an industrial estate car park.

It needs a lot of TLC. It's been left to deteriorate. The images I have are not from last week I suspect more like a year ago. I would have bought this to restore but the owner over rates it's value and underestimates the costs involved in bring it back to its former glory. It's so sad to see a wonderful car neglected like that.

Yes, I am in agreement.

I went to take a look at this car because the owner described it as in "immaculate condition". My thinking was that if this were true with the mileage of 250k it would be a reasonable purchase with funds left over to make the car mint. Alas immaculate condition it certainly was not.

With regard to prices I suspect that we are undervaluing the 7 series Alpina. The Sytner 7 series have so far passed under the radar in the UK, all bar the Alpina Connoisseurs. It won't be long now until they are "discovered" and their rarity and desirability will lead to much higher prices in exactly the same way that it happened to the e31 b12s in the last five years.

I just hope this happens sooner rather than later so we don't lose more examples to the scrapmen & breakers.

I'd say those figures weren't far off the mark, especially with the 7 series regardless of Alpina background or not being the one that tends to get left behind.

Also to add, the car in question was at one time fitted with hand controls for its disabled owner, I knew the car around 8 or so years ago and was on the point of buying, so that may account for the wear to the interior.

When you look at the facts, its tired, not the best colour combination and is in need of an interior, the actual value is dropping, however have all the items rectified and the paintwork improved you then have the possibility of a valued or worthwhile B11.

Absolutely! I am posting the photos and comments hoping that someone else will rescue it. A couple of months ago I would have taken it on as a project if the price was reasonable but it's too much for me at the moment, but that's not to say it's not worthwhile buying. It's just not for the fainthearted

This was the only Alpina on site (slowing rusting away) but he said he had others, not sure what but I will try and find out.
