Not too sure where the figure of 63K came from. I was at the auction yesterday it was purchased for 56K. However, a gentleman who I know who owns an ALPINA XD3 spoke to me before the bidding.
He had examined the MOT at said it was 187,000 miles last time. Silverstone auctions declared it at 111,000 miles?
I did bring this to the attention of the auction after the on line sale had been made.
He further went on to claim the car had not seen a BMW dealer since 2008 there appear to be sporadic invoices from Fosters somewhere in the Lincoln area. Looks like it may have had a rear end shunt as badge was not affix correctly and relatively fresh blue paint was alleged to be seen.
The car was on of two destined for the Sultan of Brunei and sold by Sytner 8 years after being built I believe.

Even having said all of the above, the 5.0 version for 89K in Glasgow seems ambitious does it not?

It would be interesting to find out about the history of this E31.

I remember a few years ago seeing the remains of a B12 5.7 on a trailer that was said to be ex Sultan of Brunei, I wonder if it was the same car.

I agree with Kevin (as usual).

If you can build up a relationship with a good Indie as I have done you get a level of personal input that in my opinion cannot be matched at a main dealer. They get to know the cars in detail, and I trust their work implicitly.

Some jobs are better carried out by the dealer, and on the whole I've had good service from both.

The main thing is that these cars need regular servicing, especially as the mileage increases. I now change the oil and filters at no more than 3,000 mile intervals, which could be part of the reason for the B12 passing it's MOT at 155k last week with no advisories.

I know many people are keen on the B12 Coupé, but I find its looks a bit 70s for my taste, with the pop-up lights and cubist dash, so I'll keep my saloon for now.

you both are correct on price depends if the buyers premium is included.

56 (Hammer price)*1.125 (buyers premium) = 63

If I read their website correctly VAT is also added to the buyers premiun (and not hammer price) therefore the total is 71.4k

However some pictures of my first ALPINA meet which KevinB10 organised nearly 11 years ago and has photos of the B12 5.7 coupe

I was at the auction and it specifically said in the catalogue, which costs 20 pounds and you have to buy one to enter the auction, it was order for the Sultan.

The reg of the vehicle sold was FM 51 ZKW, which is not the same as the pic previously at the pub meet, however that could have been a private plate.

It further went on to say that Sytner registered the car 8 years after it was built.

I totally accept there are other costs on top of the 56K ie buyers premium, the vat element only relates to the buyers premium and not the purchase price. I recall this being explained by the auctioneer at the outset and I was there both days it was the same.

For me personally, the car was not in great condition and it was also alleged it had not seen a dealer since 2008. But good luck to whoever bought it, I don't think it was a UK buyer.

Norrie on the Silverstone auction page the pictures have the private plate, which is the same as the pub meet.

With the price I just was explaining how I can see where you both got the figure, and me being my usual self I just mentioned the VAT
