B10 V8 and engine block from X5 4.6 IS

A cracked spark plug has destroyed one piston and the cylinder wall, so I need a new engine block and pistons.

I have often heard that the same engine is used in BMW X5 4.6 IS and a whole engine from BMW X5 4.6 IS fits into the Alpina.

Does any of you know if a new engine block and 8 pistons from X5 will fit in my B10 V8 ?

On page 4 in this buying guide it says
"If you do need 4.6 engine parts (or a 4.6 engine) the unit from the 4.6 IS X5 is virtually the same ..."

Mine is number 660 and it is pre-facelift but is has single vanos and 347 HP

I had the vanos units replaced a few years ago, so I know it has got vanos

Side by side comparison is not possible because I donÂ´t have the new engine block yet
