Cheers, no probs, I enjoyed doing it.

At least I to eat this time.

The only one I think I missed was a blue Roadster S with a hard top that was parked outside the gates.

James

Hi James,

Many thanks for documenting this for posterity: it was some meeting, and what a great bunch of people and cars. I particularly enjoyed hearing the stories of when these Alpina's where build in the 1980-ties by Mark Adkin, at the old Huntingdon street works. I think that Paul's green E30 C1 2.3 might have even pre-dated the Sytner era? I'm not sure whether that was a TWR-build car. I didn't manage to speak to Paul during the meet as I was somewhat running late.

Needless to say, I really enjoyed it, and the pictures look absolutely stunning and already provide some memories!

As David, Mark and me came third in the quiz and us having won one of Herr Bovensiepen's finest bottle of wine (a 2010 no less!), I'll try to ceremoniously open it when I can get a few BMW, Porsche and old racing hands together at possibly the Walton's hotel off Derby road.

My porsche independant specialist in Leicester, Chris Sargeant, (GCR porsche Ltd) is also an incredible Alpina fan with 6 in his ownership, having got a amongst others an E21, an E28, a E34 etc etc, so perhaps I could convince him to attend as well next time.

The drive was very pleasant (despite me being on Winter tyres still, having just returned from where the Michelin Pilot 4S would not grip) but the car was running great. In fact, take it by the scruff of its neck and throw it a-la- old 911 and I discovered wonderful "fahrdynamiken".

Finally, I had the honour and pleasure of delivering Herr Schneider to his hotel at Birmingham airport, and we had a very pleasant conversation indeed.

Rather than starting another thread, I will pop my pictures on your post as well: we might as well create a picture post.... for some reason, I choose to have the rear 3 quarter views!.

Cheers,

Belgian Bert

As usual, Norman's arse was particularly impressive

3rd in the quiz, what what, dontcha know!

B3 Biturbo #053, my beast. Yes, I took some ribbing for the reg plate (Norman!) so it'll go private now.

And finally, OMG, what a glorious sound these V8 Alpina's make. But, when this lot overtook our convoy whilst waiting, it gave me hope. The new B4's with their Akrovopik exhausts sounded like two fingers up the EU noise police!

Nearly 900 miles covered this weekend  One meeting in Notts followed by an impromptu meet and alfresco lunch near Stirling on the way home yesterday - the sun shines on the righteous

The stunning weather continued as we drove over the highest road in the UK (2,200') and I just had to take a few pics to show those who thought my Scarab Green B10 was a dull purple!

Thanks again to Neil, Charles et al for the organisation. Good to see some old faces and finally meet some people who have been friends for over 10 years despite never having met face-to-face.

Great pics - thanks for sharing.

I'm curious if the TVR Tuscan just out side the gates and wondered if there are othe TVR/Alpina owners out there? Would have been good to chat with them ....... but of course not necessarily at the event.
