Anyone else on the forum have an interest in bikes? I just managed to buy a mint original 1989 ZXR 750 H1 Kawasaki this week, been after one for a while. I collect and restore old race bikes as well as having my passion for Alpinas?

Quite a few of us Alpinistas are bikers too. I was hoping to be in the group going from Stirling to Glasgow today but couldn't make it down in time. |

What on today in Glasgow Chas?
This is one of my bikes, an original Team Green H1 that John Reynolds and Ray Swann raced.

Stunning bike Alasdair. Like Chas said there are a few of us here with bikes too. A friend of mine used to have a small Kawasaki dealership back in the late 1970s /early 1980s. His own bike was a H2 750. _________________ Roy Allan

I used to be a biker but now I'm a bike commuter
I've just sold my Krauser MKM to a mate in Australia as it had sat in the garage for 10 years waiting for me to restore it but I bought the B10 instead.
I still ride a K1100LT each week day to the station but I'm not a real biker anymore.
Time seems to be my biggest problem and I don't really have enough time for the Alpina and a bike so the B10 is a good compromise as it gives a similar thrill in certain circumstances, not quite the same but a pretty good substitute _________________ 2001 Alpina B10 V8 #185

Al - I'd owned the Krauser from new in 1982 and used to take it Le Mans and the B'ol Dor every year - good times and no expense spared as it had a few engine rebuilds with the 4 valve heads
As with all things, circumstances, friends etc change over the years so since the late 90's the MKM had basically sat in my garage gathering dust & rust. I always planned to restore it but eventually realised that the B10 has kind of replaced it so my mate in Aus who used to come on the french trips and was always promised first option on it has finally got his wish. I know he'll get it back to concourse condition and it feels like it's staying in the family so I'm reasonably happy with the outcome - it also means I'll get to ride it again in a year or so when I go back to see him.
Here's a photo when I eventually rolled it out of the garage recently, it's in need of a full strip and rebuild but all the important bits are there so it will look good when it's finished.

Doesn't look like it needs more than a good clean in the pictures, I have MOTed a lot worse in the past!

If I'd kept it I would have stripped it right down and them done a full restore which is what it needs, the photo doesn't tell the full story! _________________ 2001 Alpina B10 V8 #185

About 350 bikers going to George Square for the Yes anniversary.
Here's mine; think I've had it for 15 years and it's not passed 30k miles yet!

You should know better than that, Kevin
Two guys turned up with union jacks. There were over 2,000 carrying saltires. Go figure |

I figure that it doesn't seem to matter how many people carry the Saltire in their hands while so very many still have the Union Jack in their heads and hearts.
The day of the races came and the seemingly silent Scottish majority seemed to have their say, didn't they? _________________ E24man

Mine (greedy bastard that I am)
This was between selling the GSX-R 750 and having already purchased the R1. I have had many more bikes than cars
