Cadwell park: novice track day 3rd April
Just wondering if anybody is going there?

Not sure if I am mad or very mad or even madder, but I booked that day, so....maybe I am hoping to see friendly/familiar faces...

Hi Marie-Noëlle
Are you doing it in the D3 or Scooby? I did an organised track day there with Pataket a couple of years ago in his Evora rather than our Alpina's. A brilliant track which has some fairly technical sections, especially for novice racers.
As with any circuit, this is especially hard on the brakes which were amazing on the Lotus but a bit of a weak point on the D3 MT. However, I'm sure the handling of the D3 would suit this track and surprise a few faster cars.

Great to hear from you Joe! Keeping well I guess? All is good here.
I shall be taking the Scooby there... as I think this is a more track (hard abuse that is...) suitable car.
Looking again again at the D3's brakes....no they are far too small I think
I wonder if they can be upgraded when I change pads/discs...
Anyway, wish me luck!!!

Hi Marie-Noëlle,
All good here thanks. Good to hear you are well and hope you are still enjoying your D3.
Thinking about it, the Scooby would be pretty much ideal for Cadwell. Decent brakes and 4WD will certainly assist and be more forgiving in the tight twisty bits, especially if it is your first time there. It's a great track and you'll have a brilliant time. Worth watching a few YouTube clips to help you learn the track.
You could upgrade the brakes on the MT so they are the same as the BT (330d spec). The alloys would need to change to the shallower offset to fit the bigger brake discs and calipers behind (would spoil that distinctive deep dish look the MT has). Another cheaper option would be to upgrade the discs and pads (same spec as the 320d so plenty of aftermarket choice) but beware of cheap discs that have poor manufacturing quality and warp or are poorly made. The BMW OEM stuff is excellent quality.
Like with anything, it could be done but probably not worth the expense and the standard set up is more than capable for road driving.

Enjoy, I did Cadwell a couple of years ago with the TVR Car Club (in my TVR) and thoroughly enjoyed it.
As advised above, take it steady to start with to get to know the track and demands, gradually pressing as you get a feel for car and track.
Hope you get good weather to enjoy the day.
Post some pics up and your view on how it went.

Thank you guys! I had a look at some vidéos indeed with Subaru Impreza and BMW M3 E46.
As for the D3, I wouldn't really change the deep dish look: it makes it stand out from all the other (rather similar) alloys, be it ALPINA or BMW! No offence...
I'll let you know how we get on
