The author thought that Alpina have ditched the steering wheel buttons, which is only true on the Alcantara wheel of this demo car!

"Inside, Alpina has ditched the small gearchange buttons it normally fits to the back of the steering wheel and retained the standard car’s paddles to operate the eight-speed Switchtronic auto gearbox."

Interesting one, did anyone out there ever use the buttons?

The paddles are more obvious to see and use but I was just wondering how many people actually drove with an auto box using the buttons.

I certainly do. Easier on track as well given the position your holding the wheel at.
