:)

Doesn't take e long to get back on the case!!

Have been in touch with the gentleman owning this...

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... 04/4242337

Waiting on contact! I've decided it's not so essential for the hardtop if the right car is out there. Thought this would've gone ong ago. The only issue is the self servicing? May not be an issue for me if I'm keeping it for some time(years!), but may for resale!

Appreciate views/opinions, knowledge of this car?

Many thanks,

Jon

Very nice looking car and is still Oriant Blue :D

The number plate is also a very nice option and soooo close to the one that we have on our touring. Has to be worth £600-£700 Although B3 ALP would have been superb on that car 8)

I don't think the lack of hard top would bother me either if the car was a good one. Just a bonus in the winter months. It sounds like he has not used it in the bad weather anyway

It is newer and cheaper than the one at ASM and only two owners.

I would not be over bothered about the lack of dealer service history, but if he is an auto tech guy himself I would expect to see paperwork to show what and when it has been done during his ownership. I would certainly start to worry if he is unable to do that.

Looks like the car is in West Sussex so not a million miles from you. Let us know how you get on if you do decide to check the car out.

By the way. I have just sent you a PM with regards my call to ASM this morning. I have to call again as the owner was out. Will keep you updated.

:)

Thanks Nick for the heads up. First one is just out of range money-wise. Looks lovely but has been around a while..prob priced a bit too high! Second I am considering but then found the Sussex one R33ALP is still available, so chasing that one first. Hope to view.

Many thanks for the advice Terry. Glad I can count on the experience here and interest in throwing up possible cars, Nick.

I would certainly want to see the servicing detail he has. I'm not doubting his word and the frequent oil changes. Just need confirmation. The BMW service record should show the essential initial service and be complete up until he bought it. I've said I would still want an independent inspection, as any buyer should, so will await contact. Asked if he could forward any more photo's...like recent, especially after the before and after experienced yesterday!!

Jon. I have just got off the phone from talking to Amil the owner of ASM and he is offering a full apology regarding yesterday. He said he was not in yesterday and you would not of been treated in that way if he had.

He is going to find out what went wrong and said he will e,mail you with an apology and a gesture of good will in the way of a price reduction if you are still interested in the car.

He sounded genuinely upset from what I told him and would like the chance to put things right.

Let us know what he has to say. Even if you have decided against the car, it will help others to hear what he has to say, in case they are thinking of using them in the future.

I'd go for R33ALP sounds like things add up + not a dealer is in its favour

Well as Jon has said, the car has a few dings and some things not working so is not for him.

Buying from a dealer does have its plus points. Mainly there should be some warranty with the car. Buying privately is bought as seen=Caveat Emptor

Jon. If you call Amir there is no reason why he should not give you the reg mark. Any problems then let me know.

PM sent with my contact details.

Depends if you are confident in the dealer. Myself, I prefer to use my own judgment and buy private. My own experience is Dealer warranty means nothing on a car this age

R33ALP Sounds honest

True. I myself tend to buy private, but it depends how knowledgeable and confident you are in doing that.

Most dealer warranties are insurance based. But at least they cover the big important things in cars such as an Alpina. I,e engine and drive train.
