Sunroof on Alpina D3 Saloon

Post by German » Sat May 30, 2015 4:17 pm

I meet with the dealer next week to finalize the option list for a delivery end September. How many of you have a sunroof and think it is a good option to take? Any downers? Do you know how much weight it adds to the car?
Thank you guys.

the glass sunroofs are really cool, much more light in the cabin also.

My bro in laws e46 B3S saloon has a glass sunroof. Rare!

Does someone know how much weight a sunroof adds to the 1585 kgs?

does it really matter?! its a road car wtih 350bhp and 500lbs of torque the sunroof isn't going to affect this already fat cars handling one way or the other in the grand scale of things.

@Simon13. Understood and you are right as i was already impressed by the D3 Wagon xDrive at 1730 kgs. However I want my D3 to be as light as possible and offering the best ride quality without unecessary excess weight. So this is the background of my question :?: :) :)

you best spec no air con, sat nav, cloth manual seats then! I bet it would still be heavy then.

I've no idea, if its a glass roof its going to be in the 60 kgs region possibly more going by older cars once you add the cassete, motor, loom, sunroof etc

I would of thought your best option is asking the dealer himself of the weight. Personally I like a car with them.

Never had a sun roof in any car till last year, and I would never by this type of value car without one now, blue tooth still is ok even open on the motorway, and I think it keeps you alot fresher when driving long distances better than a/c.
One thing no one seems to talk about on here is the distance control option you should check it out as I think that is also a must with the head-up-display.
Just my thoughts.

@Flareside: headsup display is for sure on the option list. It should be even better on the LCI. Not sure about distance control yet. Can you de-activate it and only use the cruise control? I have them both on the wife's Merc but is annoying sometimes because you cannot use the cruise control independently from the distance control (distronic plus).
