B12 6.0 Estoril Blue - where is it now?

Post by nealpina » Tue Nov 11, 2014 8:41 pm

As above - what is the updated story with this car?

A comment was made in another thread which sounded like this car is now back on road. I therefore have made the assumption that after it was sold at auction several years ago - this car is now on the road again and being used

all i can remember is it went pete tong for the previous owner Richard? He had a plan than back fired to buy it cheap back at the auctions or along those lines and someone else won it.

I've not heard a sniff of it since myself

Talking to Richard soon after the auction, it transpired that his B12 went to the winning bidder for an extremely high sum.
I think the reason Richard did not get his car back, was the auction price plus the costs of a total rebuild would have been much more than the market value.

The car then disappeared, whether it was rebuilt, who knows.

Estoril Blue B12

Post by BeeJayEmm » Thu Dec 25, 2014 3:01 pm

Just seen the discussion regarding possible resurrection of this car. I am on the lookout for another B12 - don't mind whatever level of restoration required. Has anybody got better information about the car now?

From what i've heard the car is owned by a guy who owns a bodyshop so I would assume that it has been repaired. The previous owner, Richard, knows him and has passed on the history and other parts that he had for the car. The current owner doesn't use forums or attend car shows so it would be a rare sight nowadays.

I persued that car unsuccessfully for a long time and ended up buying an estoril blue/champagne E39 M5 instead and then an Alpina B7. In my opinion it remains one of the best cars to come out of Buchloe. The only one I wanted more was an E31 B12 5.7 Coupe which I luckily managed to purchase last year however I still keep an eye out in the classifieds for the estoril B12 6.0..

Estoril Blue B12 - where is it?

Post by BeeJayEmm » Thu Jan 08, 2015 12:12 pm

Thanks Baggio850,

Sounds as if we are losing track of our precious B12s. I have recently tried to trace not just the Estoril Blue one, but also the Mora Red one and two Alpina Green ones which were in view 3 or 4 years ago.

I am all for restoration to absolute excellence - the cost really doesn't matter - but you have to be able to find your raw material first. It would be sad to lose the B12 altogether as it is, to me, still the most beautiful machine ever to come from Buchloe.

Just like the biblical father of the prodigal son, I will probably always watch the horizon for their return.

My B12 was bought by a wealthy car collector who also happens to own a bodyshop (South London).
It was he who bid silly money to buy it - He also bought the spare set of wheels, the speedo and all the bits I removed from the car - together with the history file. he repaired it and, as far as I know, still owns it.

I recall his name was Adam
