Hi,

Just wanted a bit of advice and seems like this is the place to ask.

I have previously owned a 335D, so I'm reasonably familiar with the 3 series. I recently sold my Audi S5 and looking for an Alpina B3 bi turbo. The M3 has no appeal to me, despite it being a great car. Not interested in another diesel.

I'm going to see this tomorrow and wondered what people thought :

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201405234449454/sort/default/usedcars/model/alpina/postcode/gl207se/maximum-age/up_to_8_years_old/price-from/12000/fuel-type/petrol/page/1/make/bmw/radius/1500/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/price-to/25000/maximum-mileage/up_to_70000_miles?logcode=p

Is that a good price for the age and spec? There are so few for sale that it's hard to get any comparisons.

Are there any common faults that I should look out for?

Anyone actually know the car?

Any advice on this care or the B3 in general would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Bryan

Hi briggy

This may be a better option, this is a 2009 model which include 2nd Gen iDrive. This has a far better Satnav and LCD screen. it comes with a 80Gb HD to store your mp3 files.

http://www.thealpinaregister.com/B3/Bi-Turbo/convertible/253

The price appears to be similar.

Generally the B3 BiTurbo are free from common faults, to my knowledge except I have had my B3 BT High Pressure Fuel Pump preplaced on three separate occasions (covered by BMW warranty).

To which he / she hasn't responded.....

Went to see this last night http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/bmw/alpina/bmw-alpina-b3-3-0-bi-turbo-2dr-switch-tronic/2353938?isexperiment=true

For me personally, I don't like the dark interior inside a dark car, so I won't be buying it. Loved the test drive though. There's a deal to be done with these guys as they showed a lot of flexibility on the price and what they would throw in, in terms of warranty and cosmetic repairs.

I wasn't a wasted journey though as it's made my mind up that this is the right model for me. I love the way that the switchtronic just simply WILL NOT change gear when in manual sport mode until I tell it to. The lack of that level of control was something on my old 335D that always frustrated me.

Anyway, I'm now making enquiries about this http://www.germancarspecialistltd.co.uk/bmw-alpina-b3b3-3.0-bi-turbo-2dr-switch-tronic-total-spec-bmw-warranty-in-ilford-3721973 with an intention to see it this Saturday.

Cheers,
Bryan

Also ask about the rear badges as the person selling originally selling had them to give with the car

Yes, I think you're right about it being the same car.

Have emailed trader with various questions, including the badges.

After speaking to both the original and the most recent owner, I went to see this http://www.germancarspecialistltd.co.uk/bmw-alpina-b3b3-3.0-bi-turbo-2dr-switch-tronic-total-spec-bmw-warranty-in-ilford-3721973 It's the same car as this
http://www.thealpinaregister.com/B3/Bi-Turbo/convertible/253

Saw it, drove it, loved it, bought it. Job done!

Bryan

Great well done Razz

I would be interested in what you think to the B3 Bi Turbo comparing with your previous cars.
