Yes, just a bit

James, in traffic I do use the torque of the engine in manual mode as far as the steptronic box allows. Under 31mph it won't allow 5th gear and under 20mph it won't allow 4th gear. So it's not really surprising that the consumption takes a hit in slow traffic.

  Thanks guys. I didn't know that. But the fuel consumption is still a bit high for me. As far as I know the difference in fuel consumption between 3.3 and 4.6 is about 5 mpg.

How long does the "Honeymoon Period" last, I'm 32 months into it and it's still doing it for me
17.3 mpg on a full tank is my worst consumption in all this time (short local runs in winter). Best ever was 32.9 mpg. These are brim to brim figures not computer generated. Consumtion 1 set on day one of the honeymoon is still showing 25 mpg after 14k miles
As the Alpina handbook says the car will cruise in 5th gear at 31 mph at 1200 rpm.

:D Geooff,
In two weeks time, this is 36 months. Each time I drive it I still enjoy the car as my first time. The average comsumption for each tank of my car is about 28/30mpg according to the range showing in OBC. On a long run somtimes the OBC shown 580 to 600 miles per tank. The worst I had was about 22mpg that including a run of 175mph for about 10miles on motorway one night at 3am.
Someone had asked me to sell my car in Gaydon and I told him I don't have other car to drive if I sell my love. So he has to wait until I save enough for the B6 or the new B3.(I still cannot affort to have a new car. That will be another few years in waiting)

Tony my high speed run was done in an island autobahn and I still own Charles a pint of changing all the details I put on the forum.
Otherwise I should be in trouble with the force.
Hay Charles I haven't forget that I still own you a pint for the amendment and thanks.
