Seller is relisting on eBay - doesn't seem to be hitting reserve and not making more than low 20s each time. Price reduced on Pistonheads too to 26.5k. How big of an issue is not being services for 5 years? Or rather, 18k miles without a service?

I would think if it had genuinely not seen any kind of scheduled maintenance in 5ys/18k miles that would be a bit of a worry. However, hopefully that is just reference to the major Inspection I & II's which, with lower usage, could see extended intervals. You would hope therefore that at least an oil service had been completed in that time. Further investigation would be helpful.

I figure, even with a 5 year gap, only so much that can go wrong in 18k miles, and if I can win the auction, I’ll nurse her back to good health!

That’s a bit extreme, what did you ask?

He said he would service the car after the auction ended. I said that it would be complete trust on my part that he would do that, he couldn't get his head around servicing now, so the buyer has confidence, if he was going to spend the money to service it anyway.

Then he cancelled the whole auction.

Also claimed he was in no rush to sell even though the auction was no reserve with 3 days left to run. So I suggested he was in a rush, unless he was planning to "shill bid" on the car....

I can also confirm, it has not been serviced since 2015 / 21k miles - the seller sent me photos of the logbook

Seller just an absolute tool then. Shame, as a lovely car.

Instead I’ve put a deposit down on a Silver F30 D3 that is in Harrogate with Evans Halshaw. Going to view and hopefully buy on Friday.

So hopefully joining the Alpina register by the end of the week!

Just an update on this, the car has exchanged hands a couple of times through dealers, i was offered the car around the £20k figure by the first dealer but he subsequently got a better offer by current trader who now seems to be stuck with it.

It hasn't had a service but has been used over the past 5 years, whilst it is a genuine b5 I decided to pay the difference and buy a higher spec lci car with proper maintenance i have an all round video and further piks from the first dealer if anyone is interested

This one is back on the market, up with Uber GT. Sounds like it has had a lot of fettling in the last 8mths, looks pretty sharp.
