One @ Gaydon? I do not recall rear blackened out windows. I have had a conversation with the owner. I think it is best for his sake that there is no speculation about the potential outcome.

Vehicle stopped due to excessively tinted windows?

This looks like a standard factory tint on the rear doors

Mine below as an out of the factory comparison (ok its an F30 but hey ho) Maybe I will get pulled also for excessively tinted windows

I do not have blacked out or tinted windows. The front screen has a gradient tint, however I do have factory fitted rear blinds for the rear window and all of the rear side windows and they are electrically operated. I wonder what the take is on this.

There is no law for tinting of rear side windows, just front side windows and windscreen. The front windows seem like standard factory tint at most to me!

That's why I use sunshades. No tinting - no issues

Obvs an old thread but the cops have to have a reason to pull somebody over. They of course have their own sixth sense for when a driver might be a potential wrong’un, but that isn’t enough on its own to warrant a pull. Much like the “I can smell cannabis on you” prelude to a search, they came up with an at least superficially plausible reason for the pull, in this case tints, but the driver was done for drugs.

As far as rear tints go, I’m happy that the (standard and very dark) windows at the back of my B3 afford my kids privacy and a degree of UV protection. I have the rear blinds too - and anybody whose had young kids in the back of their car can attest to how thoroughly pissed off they can get if the sun is in their eyes - but my youngest also goes potty if I raise them.
