Sytner 2016 Meet

Post by E24man » Thu Jan 14, 2016 7:41 pm

Does anybody in the know/with good contacts at Sytner aware of whether there might a meet at Sytner sometime this year?

Notwithstanding it was 50 years last year, it is always a well attended and interesting event and chance to catch up with genuine Alpinistas :D

Sytner meet 2016

Post by Norrie » Thu Jan 14, 2016 7:57 pm

There is no guarantee or ever indeed a guarantee that such a meet will take place. This largely depends on the Alpina Brand Manager and his immediate boss. The current incumbent is Gary Lott who took over from Matt Stripling just before the 50th year meeting.

I don't know if Gary will be able to arrange something similar in 2016. I am fairly sure the majority who attended in 2015 will join me in their thanks to Gary and Sytner Nottingham for their hospitality.

I did recently meet Gary and he told me there had been some criticism of him and the event, so much so he had to contact a certain organisation and defend himself.

For reasons of confidentiality I am unable to give specific names and details, however you can imagine Gary was less than pleased.

We must remember that his prime task is to sell New Alpina cars, used Alpina cars are sold by the dealership but he actually gets no credit for this. I want to put it in perspective and say that although there are a number of people who attended who have bought new, I guess most have not, to that extent I think we are lucky to have been treated what I would consider to be very well.

Let's hope that a meet will take place and we are all able to participate.

Hi

I'm pretty confident we will hold this event - albeit the size of last years was a suprise to some people :)

I was with Gary and Jonathan this morning and did discuss various things which I hope I can share when they get a bit more developed.

So I guess watch this space

Thanks

Neil

I am pleased to hear this, when I met with Gary I impressed upon him that I felt the majority appreciated all they do for us. I hope that the event will take place.

Disappointed to hear that some found things to moan about...it was a great event and we appreciated Sytner's hospitality.

Hope it goes ahead this year as it was a great location!

I believe that something is being looked at but it's not my place to reveal details or ideas at this point.

Has anyone got any news?

Nothing I can see or have read across on BMWCCGB as yet, I'd like to manage at least one meet after my op, also perhaps make a weekend out of it in Nottingham if work permits.

I would love to come along again (albeit as the poor relation in a lowly BMW). It was nice to see everyone last time around.

James

I was with Gary last week, we discussed the possibility of a meet this year but as yet nothing definite. Gary is very busy at the moment and I'm sure he will make contact in due course. Once he does there will be an announcement on the forum.

I was with Gary today, and as Simon has said Sytner and Gary are extremely busy.
They also have a severe problem with storage of vehicles, at the moment every available space is full, if they can not shift some vehicles there will be no room for us :(
If they can shift the metal, Gary was looking at the 30th of October as a possible date.

So at the moment this is a possible maybe :D
