More public domain images, this time from Auto Express.

The configurator is pretty cool also with some great artwork and images on the last post.

Show car with Dynamics on one side and classic on the other (not seen that before)

Looks awesome...

The bigger crime was by the dudes with some spray can and house duster to wipe the car down....wtf!! Small company or not im sure they have something else to prep a car.

A very handsome car, love the Green and the 20” classics - interesting the forged offering have centre caps (if I’ve understood that correctly). Not keen on the Dynamics, only a few cars look good with them over the years.
Like the front bumper, much more aggressive and resolved compared with other Alpina front ends.
Stripes look a bit odd I think - not a fault of Alpina per se, but I think a consequence of the door handle layout on the G20

From what I’ve read it’s running the S58 motor - so detuned M engine versus the speculated tuned up B58 (340). Is this a first, sharing the lump with the forthcoming M3? Although to be more accurate I’m sure the engine will be a lot more sorted than a simple retune, the torque curve I’m sure will be flat, high and accessible from low down revs

The dynamics used on this new model are of a different design to the B6. The spokes are flush with the rims which make them look somewhat awkward. Mine are deep dishes which seems to suit the design better imho.

I think the S58 is already available in the X3M Competition. Whilst it is certainly the new M3 lump, it's also spreading its wings across the ranges in different states of tune. 455bhp and 516ft/lbs is certainly a healthy unit mind you.

The new dynamics will be a buggar to repair if and when they get kerbed.

Looking at a close up they look like cheap replica’s. Don’t like how far the casting comes in on the spokes. Just my opinion of course but they seem to have lost their delicacy and precision somewhat.

Agreed, but appearing only in M cars, hence me asking if this was a first for an Alpina engine to be based on an M engine?

I think it is. First Alpina engine to be based on an 'S' and not an 'N' or 'M'.

It isn’t the 1st or 2nd even S engine. The 1st was the S70 used in the E31 B12 and the 3rd was, if you include all the B3 engines based in the North American market with the E36 M3 S5x engine.
