New D3 vandalised after only 6 days - Help!
Don't use the hand car washes they rush inflict swirls n use crap chemicals
Just from experience on mine the i especially feels loose even when carefully using wash mit or polish always a chance you may catch
Also with hot cold frost ice etc that will effect the stickiness I never directly jet wash the bootlid

Agree with Hap - Never use a hand car wash. Swirl marks are more noticable on dark colours. Yours will easily swirl after a few washes at a car wash.
My 'I' on the BiTurbo came off once whilst washing the car, a bit of heavy duty double-sided tape has kept it in place ever since.
Loving your car btw Paul, lovely colour combination and happy for you that after the setback your enjoying your Alpina again.

Always had a bit of a soft spot for VAG cars hence the number of VW's and Audi's owned. What was funny about driving your MKV? My GTi had the DSG box which made it fun to drive. The handling and power delivery was superb but eventually it had to go.Spanny wrote:Cheers A, appreciate it! Great collection of cars you've had over the years, I still think my MKV Golf GTI was hands down one of the funniest cars to drive.
Here she is in her current state - first pic im posting on Alpina RegisterSpanny wrote:Any pictures of your current D3?

D3-No.435, love the colour combination. What an amazingly clean example; we used to have a white car, not easy to maintain are they?! Mine is lacking the Alpina side stripes; Sytner have quoted a few hundred quid to fit them but I think I prefer a black Alpina without them. In your case though, it makes the car.
Sorry re the Golf GTI, I meant to say that it was the most fun car I'd owned, you could just throw them about and they were so extremely well put together.
On a separate note, I caught the little bugger that did the damage tonight! I say caught, I'm pretty sure we ran in to each other and I didn't react quick enough to get his plate. I was driving through Manchester and a black 320d lowered with 'kit' on and a fake M badge on the grill came around the corner. He suddenly slammed his brakes on next to my car - I was sat in traffic - and he started staring and smiling. I didn't think much at the time, but as he pulled away I spotted a genuine Alpina badge stuck (badly) on the boot in the wrong place for the marque. It was 100% genuine but his car wasn't; he was half a mile away from where my car was vandalised. Can't be a coincidence!!

Ha ha, you're probably right. Not sure the police will look into it, although they marked it as a more serious crime because "something was taken" they won't investigate and I do understand that. At a guess it was a 2007 model but the corresponding D3 badge was missing. I think it had an Alpina roundel fitted on the rear and it definitely had an M badge fitted to a black kidney grill.
Black alloys too, I think. Lowered and looked a bit crap. Youngish Asian lad driving, didn't concentrate long enough to get a description, but he turned off Deansgate onto Liverpool Street. 100% fake.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'll have to start a separate thread sometime don't want to hi-jack this one.Spanny wrote:D3-No.435, love the colour combination. It's shocking that someone would go to all that trouble of vandalising another car just for some badges to make people think they own an Alpina when it sounds like there car looks nothing like one. Best thing Spanny is to just put it out your mind and move on from this. Even if you tracked the person down sounds like there is no way of proving the badges were actually yours. Just think of it as a minor setback and enjoy your Alpina.

Cheers D3-No.435, yes I have done now, spent a couple of hours outside cleaning her up tonight, that for me is enjoyment enough! It's funny how much attention you get in these, I've never had a car where people stop you to ask about it before.
On a separate note, I need to replace a rear tyre now. Firstly, those centre caps can be a bugger to remove and secondly, rear tyres - HOW MUCH?!

This is probably where your Alpina badge has gone Swanny, or to one of his aspiring mates. And the full set too as there's no way he would have paid new prices for them.
