Still chasing the cold start rough idle. Took the aux air pump and solenoid off to check for leaking or blocked and just working in general. Very clean, no build up of carbon.

Ran pump remotely and sucked on vacuum tube, got the full blast of air through solenoid so it works fine. Put it back on car, blocked the car vacuum pipe and sucked on additional vac pipe I fitted. Car started and ran fine without stumbling. So I rate that as progress, ie I’ve got a vacuum problem to the auxiliary air pump solenoid. Problem is those pipes are new.

Finally had some time to prepare the B5 Touring (010) for winter storage (or sale) and took the opportunity to take some autumnal pictures too!
Pleased with ones efforts - amazing for a 14 year old classic and duly inspired by Dans recent sale of his B5 Touring to Jules - who seems very happy with his purchase of such a rare car and by all accounts as pleased as Dan is with his new B3S Touring I think. :-)

Checklist
- MOT Done
- new Original BMW Windscreen(correct for HUD) fitted
- Tyre pressures set
- Fluids checked
- Tank filled

& some pictures to share: Enjoy!

I do absolutely love mine! Such a great car and Dan did a great job of making her great again (no Trump pun intended). These are weapons of mass driving seduction :D

@ Newalpinafan - lovely car 8) Interior particularly nice.

@ Jules, welcome to the forum, you have an absolute cracker of a car there. Not seen it in the flesh, but from the pics I've admired it from the first day I saw it. Enjoy!

Your B5 looks lovely Newalpinafan. Did it previously have an M5 wheel with paddles fitted?

Thanks Metrics, going to be attending any Alpina meets I can that come up so hopefully you get a chance for a proper look at some point. I've had 3 'Norman's Beemers in the past (4 including the Mrs's and 2 of which we have now as our daily) and I have always admired Alpina's but now having one I totally get how special they really are.

Good keen eye there! Yes the original Alpina steering wheel is back on for any new potential owner. I was mindful of the wear and tear it might incur and hence had popped on the M5 paddle wheel. Both styles fo wheels work well, but I do like the -/+ lighting up on the M5 paddles when its dark. Just helps me remember my left and right better ;-)

You now have a cracking rare car Jules, I had the opportunity to meet and speak at length with Dan at Gaydon this year and admire his (now your car) at length. He really is passionate about Alpinas as we have all noted - a ma after my own heart!

I hope it gives you as many miles of pleasure as the B5 Touring has for me and its prior owners too. Do drop me a PM if you want to chat about ownership and experience - happy to share. Perhaps we'll be able to get the two Tourings together and try and persuade the owner of the 3rd remaining RHD B5 Touring (Silver I think) together at some point. I am in the South East

newalpinafan thanks and yes be good to speak sometime. Already very in love with 'her' and looking forward to many miles of fun.

I'm south east too, between Reading and Basingstoke, so getting the 2 cars together sounds a great plan.

I'm booked for Goodwood FOS next year on the Saturday in Perf' Parking but I'm sure there will be many other events before then. Dan is clearly an Alpina man (I think he said he has had 11 in total) and the right sort of person to but this type of car from. Any idea where the Silver Touring is based, is that in the South too? - would be amazing to get all 3 together if we can. Cheers, Jules

I'm between Reading and Wokingham. If you don't mind an interloper in a D5, drop me a message, I'd love to see these B5's in person!

#056 was last known in Scotland I think but it does still have valid MOT/Tax as it stands, so it should still be on the road somewhere.

#048 is also UK based and crops up from time to time, although it is a lhd import.
