autobox rebuild recomendations pls

Post by Drew » Thu Jun 06, 2019 10:11 am

Hi, my B12's gearbox has finally had enough. I bought the car with a very clunky shift into 4th and this has developed over time and it now chucks Trans Failsafe Mode errors at me. So a rebuild is now required.
CPC Phil has previously recommended Stephens in Ware, but I'm not close by. Does anyone have any good experiences of auto box rebuilds to Alpina spec closer to south bucks/ M40 area (I'm in Beaconsfield)??

any recommendations/ comments greatly appreciated

cheers

If a workshop has been recommended to you by Phil at CPC I would be sorely tempted to take it there. However I'm pretty sure one of the forum members had their Alpina gearbox overhauled by these http://www.vanmatic.com/index.php despite the website saying they are suppliers. It could be worth a phone call to them.

Stephens are phenomenal - well worth the extra few miles and really not that far from you.

Another vote for Stephens..... I live up near Peterborough and considering the service I've had (no quibble on a warranty claim, offer of loan car etc), the distance is a secondary issue. There are other specialists near me but I would prefer to use a company that has a reputation for understanding Alpina.

Hope that helps,

Mike
