I'm with Simon on this totally.

Is the register linked to the V5 details? If not then that's a personal input of information, so they'll say 2.7 and not 2.5.

This is the major issue with the 'older' UK cars, its hard to verify as what one person thinks is different to what others think or know.

But as I've said (and Simon has said) a new owner could have changed the log book information, but it wasn't standard practice when the cars were new. Pretty sure this was down to issues when new with new car registrations etc otherwise why just change the capacity and not alter the model references?

having the ECU and gearnob still fitted isn't a guarantee that the engine is fitted. Your "expert" needs to go back to school!

the engine number stamped on the block needs to be the same as the last 7 digits of the donor cars chassis number. Alot have MIA engines and they ALL crack their cylinder heads at some point on th 2.7 engines so its is very very common to see one with a stock 325i head fitted.

have you checked the sport carefully, i understand that the logbook could be changed to add words such as "sport" if requested by the owner in the past.....it might just be a 325ise with a bodykit :whistle

...just winding you up mate ;) good to see another alpine white C2 2.7 out there. i glanced at your pic and panicked as i though you had sprayed it black! i always wondered what a red leather interior would look like, so more pics required...
