Re: Pad light

I've had a few similar issues over the years with instrument cluster lights on E46's and normally a battery disconnection and reconnection for an hour or so would fix it. Definitely worth a try in my opinion.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll look into the options mentioned but not a job I want to tackle myself, it will just end in tears - lol

Re: E46 B3S Vanos

Yes, exactly what I thought so I emailed them but received the below response:- Hello, Thank you for getting in touch. Unfortunately due to eBay outselling us on parts we have stopped producing the products required to refurbish this model as well as others. I’m sorry we couldn’t help you on this oc...

E46 B3S Vanos

Hi all Has anyone replaced or repaired the Vanos on an E46 B3S? Mine has developed the dreaded rattle. I've seen online about repair kits but not sure if this is the right way to go plus any recommendations on who can do this for me? I'm guessing a BMW dealer would only want to just rip our and put ...

Re: Mileage

Completely agree with the other responses. A car like that is for driving, not to make money out of. Both of mine were circa 70k when I purchased them several years ago. I rotate pretty much weekly and both have gone through the 100k with ease and now heading towards the 130's and 140's Mark. I stil...

Re: Which Brake Calipers

Thanks both I'm 99% sure it was a 330i donor but will double check tomorrow. It was just the calipers listed in the Alpina supplementary handbook that threw me away from the assumption it was standard 330i in the suspension technical data listing them odd part numbers. I did think about the refurb r...

Which Brake Calipers

Hi all Hopefully some can help with the below. I'm refreshing the brakes on my E46 B3S and I'm struggling to find which calipers I need. According to the Alpina handbook it talks about FN57 Front and FN42 Rear but I can't seem to find anything with that reference via an Internet search. Does anyone ...

Re: PPPPP error on Cluster after battery change

Thanks all, I do believe I've had a reasonable slice of luck on this one.

It's her 19th birthday today and my other B3 is 15 on Saturday. Considering I switch between the two as daily drivers I can't complain at all. These cars are super reliable in my opinion and a joy to own and drive.

Re: PPPPP error on Cluster after battery change

Thought I'd give an update for completeness.

As hoped, a proper battery disconnection for a week and re-connect has done the trick and everything is back to functioning 100%.

Strange how a 1hr and 24 hr disconnection doesn't work but glad it's not cost me a new cluster.

Re: PPPPP error on Cluster after battery change

Even though its been absolutely fine and all I've done is change the battery? It just seems a bit of a dealer type diagnosis to me.

PPPPP error on Cluster after battery change

Hi all Has anyone had any experience of the instrument cluster displaying PPPPP after a battery change? This is on the E46 cluster, displaying where you would expect to see mileage on turning key. I've tried to fix via pulling the three cluster fuses and also disconnecting battery for an hour but wi...

Re: Doing the maths ... which fuel is cheaper

Just out of interest Charles, have you compared this calculated mpg with the BMW readout mpg at any point of the hundreds of thousands of miles?

I'm just curious whether the onboard computer calculates within a reasonable tolerance or not.

More great stats there. I'm actually quite surprised with how many have been dismantled.

I think it also shows that there is very little demand out there for these cars. However much we love them, the majority of the population have no idea what they are.

Re: E46 B3 3.3 #213 [Frag-Fest]

How sad. That was my first Alpina and gave me the love for the brand I have today.

This car should have never got to this stage.
