Exactly the same. I think mobile phone mic's exaggerate mid range frequencies.

Re: B5 G31 wanted
It would be useful if other B5 owners here would chime in to recount their experiences, even if only to say, “No problems.” Minor issue/niggle/cosmetic: some plastic bits and chrome badges are poor quality, now looking tatty. Exhaust tips have corrosion on the returns. The plastic radiator grille fl...

Re: B5 G31 wanted
Lovely colour, practical interior. Not spent hours studying the pictures but initial thoughts: a car that’s simply been used. Full-service history by dealer - means not a lot - service should be more than a tick off menu IMHO. It has received its TLC as stipulated. Paint chips and road rash are of a...

Re: D5 S
I am pretty sure they did not bring a G31 D5 touring to the UK market at all They didn't, wanted one but they were not imported so went B5 instead. Apparently the 4th Turbo charger gets in the way of the steering gear on RHD cars. I believe our RHD version of the D5 G30 makes less power than LHD ve...

Have a look here, you might gleen some information. https://thealpinaregister.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=24985&hilit=Parts#p207655 Potted history of the N63 below. First generation of the N63 engine (N63B44O0) was produced from 2008 to 2014, and was used in models such as the 550i, 650i, 750i, ...

Re: Tyre pressures
Irritating for sure, all done by nanny for reasons of comfort & safety. At least you can still input your own settings via the iDrive. I'm sure there'll be an OTA along shortly that permanently locks the speed limiter to 72mph and restricts the throttle opening to 60%. What's happened to personal re...

Re: What did you do in your ALPINA today?
Why the return to Buchloe John? Coz its a right knackered looking mess Marc. Scuffed thru the top surface and rhs thumb / palm rest. Looks like crap, feels like crap, slowly getting worse despite applying all manner of leather potions. Can't find anyone in the UK who can recover it with Lavalina or...

Fitted a temporary steering wheel today. Its so nice I might leave it on and not bother sending the original back to Buchloe.

Engine Temperature vs Longevity
Stumbled across a web link discussing BMW engine running temperatures and reliability. https://www.bavlogic.com/?p=4035 In a nutshell the article suggests lower engine temperatures are better for longevity. I get that higher running temperatures improve emissions and possibly economy but what effect...

Some one got a bargain. Priced to sell, despite the mileage. Has it been hanging around dealers or first time offered?

Re: B5 on Collecting Cars
Congratulations Matt. I'm sure once detailed she will be looking pristine once more. As a B5 Touring daily driver for the best part of 4 years I'd say you've acquired one of the most versatile, competent, and capable supercar estates of all time. The one bit of advise I would offer is: PPF the nose ...
