Re: ALPINA at Silverstone 2019 26-28th July 19 reminder

Hi Norrie. Vehicle display pass arrived today. I'm looking forward to meeting other owners but I can only make the Friday. Is there any chance that members might post which day they're going so we know who to look out for? I see that we're asked to write our mobile number on the pass before sticking...

Re: ZF 5 HP 19 torque converter.

Thanks yet again Charles for sharing your knowledge. Lock up seems ok by your test. Guess it's looking like a trip to the diagnostics man for peace of mind. Around 18 mpg for me generally but then that's up and down the West Yorkshire Pennine moorland roads where it's impossible not to keep remindin...

Re: ZF 5 HP 19 torque converter.

Thanks Charles. The perceived flaring is minimal and at lower revs in the higher gears when under a bit of load up long gentle hills. It's barely perceptible on the flat - a steady 2,000 rpm in 5th might produce an occasional 100 rpm flare for a couple of seconds then drop back to 2,000 rpm again. I...

Many thanks Charles. Would I also expect to see increased fuel consumption?

ZF 5 HP 19 torque converter.

re my Sept '01 E46 B3 cabrio #128. In going back through the advice offered to Avtar in his recent purchase I noted that simon13 said the torque converter starts to go at around 80,000. I'm about to pass the landmark 100,000 and I'd never thought about it before. Lo and behold, I'm starting to sense...

Re: E46 B3 Buying Tips

Hi Avtar. I note the car is now showing as sold. If you've joined the E46 B3 owners ranks may I wish you much enjoyment. Just on the original audio / nav system - my previous owner upgraded to the Dynavin N6 platform in 2016. Seems fine if a little complicated for a nerd like me (eg. 27 min instruct...

Silverstone Classic.

Firstly, thanks for all your efforts to get it up again (Forum, of course)!

I fear I may have missed the boat re Silverstone but (a) is the two for one offer courtesy of BMWCCGB still open, and (b) is it necessary to be a member of BMWCCGB to avail myself of it? Thanks.

Thanks for your comments. I'd read the very helpful Pirelli v. Michelin chat but my question is really about how the car's driveability could be affected with Kuhmo on the fronts and either P or M on the rears. Thanks.

Tyres again (sorry).

My E46 B3 wore Kuhmo ECSTA SPT when I bought it - rears 255/35 ZR18 94Y and fronts 225/40 ZR18 92W. They seem good wet or dry, consistent wear all across, though I'm not sure why the rears are rated at 186mph and the fronts at 168mph. The rears could do with changing but those SPT's are no longer av...

Oils, ATF and all sorts of other liquid stuff.

I was wondering if anyone had come across Smith & Allan of Darlington. Family firm since 1925 specialising in blending lubricants, etc., and an official Shell agent. I used their LL04 equivalent Momentum C3 5W-30 in my E46 330i (150k) without any problems. Price for 5 litres in April this year was Â...
