Re: E39 B10 MID / Satnav wiring

Hi Henry Apols for not thanking you earlier, for some reason updates have stopped... ...anyway, that's helpful thanks - seems you had the same issue; for some reason the clock components are half stored on the NAV computer?(!). I'm trying to avoid putting all that gubbins back in the boot as I'm pre...

E39 B10 MID / Satnav wiring

Hi all, I have a Dynavin N6 installed but I want to restore the high OBC functions (mainly dash clock) by reconnecting a MID either in the glovebox or the boot but it’s not been straight forward... At some point my B10 had a mark IV sat nav (badly) retrofitted. I’ve removed most of the units (they g...

Re: b10 v8 crashy ride

Just had her in for (another) set of work-had the tailgate rebuilt with sound deadening installed and new trim pieces fitted - an absolute monster to source, took months - as well as engine and gearbox mounts replaced. The upshot is the ride is MUCH less crashy...well, noisy. Turns out all that rack...

Quick update on this, emailed Alpina and to my surprise they confirmed that the rear shocks are a standard BMW item 33 52 1 094 057. Begs the question what Alpina actually did to the car?!

B10 Touring shocks - same as standard BMW?

Hi all, just been on the email to Tony at alloywheeladirect.com who’s been pricing up a suspension refresh for my B10 4.6 Touring. Apparently, according to his guy at Alpina the rear shocks are standard BMW ones (part number 33521094057) not Alpina manufactured (my catalogue has a part number for ...

Quick update - took the car to CPCPE in Amersham and they had a look. A couple of bolts were loose and they tightened them up which has reduced the problem but it’s still not right. There’s still a sort of shudder through the body over certain bumps. It’s a touring so I thought it might be the...

Hi all, Thought I’d update: took the car to Phil at cpcpe in Amersham and its now fixed. Turns out someone at some point had taken the engine apart and put it back together drunk - timing was completely out, gaskets in the wrong way around etc. Luckily no damage and now runs much better. Couldn’...

Was the “ALPINA” badge still available? Don’t suppose you have a part number of know if it’s the same dimensions as an e39 boot badge?

Thanks Charles, I had an n6 in my e46 and had no issue too. After much net trawling it seems it’s an E39 issue. Found this from J and T distributing in the US: You may find after installing the extension cable that the buttons on your Dynavin don't light up. There is an orange illumination wire on...

Hey Charles

To answer your questions:

1. Happens regardless of how long the car has been running
2. 100k pretty much on the nose

I’ll check the history to see if it’s been changed. You think that would cause the slight shudder while stationary though?

Thanks for the help

Thanks skyetripper, appreciate the info. Annoyingly, I’ve just had the windscreen replaced by Autoglass (who said the screen was “the last one in the country”...great) so I hope it isn’t that. This is a shame as what you describe sounds like my issue; ride is crashy and a fair few rattles ov...

The actual one I bought was called a “veyron vc-bm01” off eBay but I can’t find that anymore. There are tons on eBay and while I was apprehensive that a camera for £15-50 would work it’s been pretty pretty good. Also found this one from a Uk company: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=...

b10 v8 crashy ride

I'm thinking about replacing the suspension on my b10 v8 as the ride seems a little brittle. Doesn't help that the roads near me look like they've been shelled but still, had assumed it would be much more sophisticated. She's done 100k and looking through the history they haven't been replaced. Anyo...

Reverse light pick up

I've installed a rear view camera replacing one of the number plate lights on my b10 touring which works great....except that in order for it to activate properly I need to connect the aftermarket head unit to a reverse light so it knows when to turn the camera on. Any ideas where the power lead com...
