Re: Engine Faults
Hi Henry Am interested because I have an ongoing, intermittent fuel trim out of range which I've yet to tackle. If your high values indicates a rich mixture, could this point to either leaky injectors or a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF? There is a 50skid YouTube video on this topic that may help...

Re: Bulbs
The Philips extreme vision are probably the brightest (non xenon and non led) you can buy. They consistently win all the comparison tests. I did quite a bit of investigating some time ago for my pre facelift E46, eventually fitting modified factory bi-xenon headlights without any coding: http://wal...

Re: Welcome #188
Looks great Sab
What did you have in mind audio-wise?
Better front speakers make a heck of a difference (a ski-hatch sub is a further refinement) and I'm tempted by the E46-specific Alpine iLX-705

Re: Advice Needed - Broken Diff
Not surprised with Sopers (or any main dealer for that matter) - they really are pricey for anything out of the ordinary! If you are looking for a local specialist, have a chat with Dan at Woods Motors - Byards Leap (High Dyke/A17 junction near Cranwell. He runs a long-established BMW specialists so...

Re: B3 3.3 torque converter solution
Externally there's no difference - there are some subtle internal differences. If I recall correctly, it's the friction plate material. As Charles says, they can be rebuilt but it's best to find a ZF specialist that can do the machining, welding and balancing. I had mine rebuilt a couple of years ag...

Re: e46 B3 3.3 auto/manual gearbox glitch?
Glad to hear the problems are resolved Doc.
Charles is spot-on - the oil ought be changed given the age and mileage, particularly because you have all of the parts and consumables. Be a pity to spoil the ship and all that!

Re: e46 B3 3.3 auto/manual gearbox glitch?
Hi Mike, Thanks for taking an interest in my little problem. I’ve looked at the Register’s parts catalogue and notice that it is in German. My contact at Buchloe has very kindly sent me the parts catalogue for my B3 e46 but joy of joys it is all in English. I also have the full BMW service plan so ...

Re: e46 B3 3.3 auto/manual gearbox glitch?
Hi once again, I was thinking going Bosch but both of you have suggested two alternatives:- Hella and Pagid. Any suggestions which maybe the preferred option? Many thanks for trying to help me out and it is much appreciated. On another note I have asked my contact at Alpina if Alpina have anything ...

Re: e46 B3 3.3 auto/manual gearbox glitch?
The parts catalogue (https://www.thealpinaregister.com/downloads/completecats/e46%20b333.pdf) indicates that there are no Alpina-specific parts for the rear brakes...however, depending on the build date of the vehicle, they could either be sourced from 328i or 330d (after Sep 99) A look at RealOEM i...

Re: e39 525i Touring SE
Looks wonderful Kenny - strangely enough Murketts was my local BMW Dealer back in the early 1990's; always very good and helpful particularly when we were sold an E30 Touring by another BMW dealer (long story short...approved used but had been a total loss). When they changed to Vauxhall, the Master...

Re: Retain the Electrochromic door mirrors Y/N?
Might be worth a chat with Mirrorjohn.com - he's pretty well known on E39/E46 forums for dealing with the auto-dip mirrors.

Re: e46 B3 3.3 auto/manual gearbox glitch?
However I am unable find the quantity that will be required. Any comments on the type of oil will be greatly appreciated especially if the comment informs me how much I will require. lol. The gearbox requires 7.8 litres of oil according to my supplementary owners manual - call it 8 litres There are...

Re: e46 B3 3.3 auto/manual gearbox glitch?
Charles' advice is sound and could well resolve the problem which could be as simple as old oil - do make sure that they change the gearbox filter though! If that doesn't resolve the problem, it's worth getting the onboard diagnostics interrogated to see if there any fault codes present (any compete...

Re: E46 b3s cam cover gasket / rocker cover gasket
The parts catalogues show that it's the same base engine (US E36 M3 S52B32) and there's no different timing cover gasket listed so I'd say yes it is!
