Re: Meet 29th September 19 Milton Keynes

Just washed the car with a gritty sponge in preparation. Weather looks crap, so probably not worth it, but at least it'll leave home clean!

Re: F30 D3

Mine are usually clean. The inside of the pipes has a baked on layer on it, but that can be scraped off. The edges of the pipes are always spotless. the car has done 74k. My old 335d (with DPF) would smoke occasionally, but that was never a problem and it never had a DPF issue.

Agreed, but appearing only in M cars, hence me asking if this was a first for an Alpina engine to be based on an M engine?
I think it is. First Alpina engine to be based on an 'S' and not an 'N' or 'M'.

Re: ALPINA at IAA 2019 - WP of B3 Touring

From what I’ve read it’s running the S58 motor - so detuned M engine versus the speculated tuned up B58 (340). Is this a first, sharing the lump with the forthcoming M3? I think the S58 is already available in the X3M Competition. Whilst it is certainly the new M3 lump, it's also spreading its wing...

Re: How can I add my car to The Register?

Hi Neil,

I tried to update my cars details on the register by following the link to the red/blue screen. I submitted it and it simply said that the number already exists. How can I update and add a pic to the existing entry? Would be great to be able to do that.

Best regards
Matt

Re: F31 D3 BITURBO #042

I would have expected it to be £27k ish, as per the other F31 that's currently for sale. Time will tell, but I can't see it shifting at the current price.

Re: What did you do in your ALPINA today?

Gave it a quick once over with a machine polisher. Had to wet sand a bird lime mark off the roof that was there when I bought the car, but that came out very nicely. Paint/lacquer is harder than other BMW's I've owned for some reason. Having just returned from a 1300 mile trip to France, it was much...

Re: What did you do in your ALPINA today?

Having just done 1400 miles in France in it, I gave it a wash! Clay and machine polish to follow tomorrow.

Think he replaced it with a G30 530i. I'm sure he'll update.

Re: F30 D3 BiTurbo #153

I was tempted by the F31, and truth be told, a touring would have been my perfect choice. However, most were/are spec light, or certainly those within budget were. I'm very happy with my choice. Last night, for the first time since owning my E90 M3, I actually just went out for a drive. Happy days!

Re: F30 D3 BiTurbo #153

Well, I'm pleased to report that this car is now sat in my garage! :D I took the train over to Rossiters at the weekend, making sure I had a return, just in case. I'd seen the pics and discussed the car with Rossiters, so knew what to expect. Firstly, as with all second hand cars, it needs some TLC....

Re: B10 biturbo

Hi Patrick, It could be the plates in the diff experiencing some backlash? However, have you had a look underneath at the propshaft guibo? These can wear and cause the backlash or jolt that you're talking about. Might be worth investigating first as it would be considerably less expensive than a dif...
