Re: B10 v8 for under 7k
Hi Barry, it does look great on the 19's you are correct. The upgrade to V8S brakes is actually not strictly true. They looked that way but it was in fact caliper covers!..........got rid of the mastic on the calipers when we changed them due to age.

Re: B10 v8 for under 7k
Ok so whats wrong with it? Why so cheap? Alpina values are very odd, just as i had started to think that I understood the pricing, something like this pops up. E39 cars are infamous for rust issues. Mileage is high to a non enthusiast at 171k. MOT history is a bit hit and miss. Tyres, indicator col...

Re: B10 v8 for under 7k
Hi Guys - its my dads car. I owned it before him. I priced it realistically but Alpina's are hard to judge on price. Its had virtually all the big ticket items done and will make a lovely car for someone. I love E39's and I have the M5 but dad is retiring and it has to go unfortunately.

Haha apologies! I am still getting used to the expected quality of posts on here. I'm surprised I didnt get more stick for not managing to upload the picture. . Pretty sure i still have the packaging so ill add the part number when I get home. I'm 99% sure they will all be the same for the M6...

Yeah, I thought it would be a nice easy bit of preventative maintenance. Glad I did it. Ha, i would give it a 2 spanner rating! The bolt cant be easily seen but once found a long nose 1/4 drive 19mm (i think) socket is all that needed to set it free. I was advised to soak the new tensioner in oil fo...

There is quite a bit of chatter regards the chain guides on the M62 V8 engine. They are made out of plastic and they are known at higher mileages to start breaking up with pretty serious consequences as you can imagine! Not helped by tensioners getting weak and causing excessive movement of the chai...

B10 V8 Timing Chain Tensioner
Having read much about the dreaded chain guide issue on the M62 i decided to replace my tensioner even though the engine is nice and quiet with no evidence of chain slap. Call it a bit of preventative maintenance given that its only 70 quid (ish) from BMW..... Well I'm glad I did as the old tensione...

Dont forget to do the fan clutch either. Tested mine at 133k miles and it was starting to get weak. Dead easy fix once you have bought a water pump pulley holder tool from fleabay. Once out it was covered in sticky goo which I can only imagine was the fluid making its escape. Thank you. By testing ...

Hi there, I also have a B10 V8 built in Dec 2000 and I have been told it has the metal headgasket. The facelift production numbers are a tad confusing as they dont follow the previous format. Its my understanding that all of the facelift models had the upgraded gasket, thats what I was told anyhow. ...
